I wish so much that they had kept the shell limit at 18 for the public marshes we hunt. The effects of 25 shell limit was seen after 2 hunts...less birds everywhere, non-stop skybusting. This is why we can't have nice things. :-(

I hated 18 shell limit. Really dislike 25 shell limit. But i agree because i have hunted public marsh before the restrictions and bozos that think they deserve to shoot at anything they can see. Unfortunately greedy idiots would rather waste a shell than let birds work another party.
I always felt they put people too close in most marshes, i guess limit on shells is best compromise.

My fiance has done more damage to keep birds away from people with a duck call more than any other trick in the book lol. It never gets old to watch him pull birds off other guys hail calling away and pull them right into our decoys. Wasting a shell just to screw someone over is in poor form and shows a lack of skill in his opinion.

Ehh... so is calling birds that are working other's spread. Should be some courtesy out there. Usually ends with no winners.

Heh, I never said we do this when the birds are working someone else's spread, which can be a really generous definition for some guys. Birds 500 yards out that happen to turn a little towards you are not exclusively working your spread.
What I am talking about is the guys who see the birds a mile off, and start hail calling like there is no tomorrow non-stop and claim everything they can see in the area was totally "coming in to us." It's not our fault the birds bank away from them and proceed to work our decoys instead while they are still calling away. I mean come on, they usually have at least 5 minutes of calling to work those birds to them with zero interference from us because my fiance is a little more judicious about when he will call. If the birds are landing into someone else's spread we have already moved on to the next flock.

I know what you mean. The problem with hunting public areas is the public!

I started the last year this particular area had a 15 shell limit. I don't know what to do with all these extra shells! Kill more coots I guess? Lol

On a good day 6 ducks, 3 canada geese, 1 spec
That left little room for bad shots
Early goose & teal, there is 11. Throw in passing doves...15 or 18 is slim. 25 is getting better

For what?
Last hint at goose pond I came home with two birds and each one took multiple shots. Missed a few others and left with less than 10 shells each day. It was bad shooting but it really sucks to run out of shells.

Sometimes you only need one to shoot yourself in the foot.

greetings
no lawful limits here but one is not allowed to sell wild geese, and most people impose there own limits on themselves, basically it is what one can use. On my pond it is two duck each unless someone specifically asks if they can have a brace for there friend. that way i can shoot duck once a fortnight until the cold freezes the pond. goose guides impose limits on there clients. Anyone being stupid will get shunned by everyone next season. regards billy

I love wild goose. With no limits my fiance and I would put that to good use for meat for the year, especially with those Canadas being pests.
