Locked in at my parents in Northern Dearborn county. I'm with old3arrows, wondering where do they go. I haven't seen a deer in over a week. Looking for a good shooter buck or the piebald doe. We shall see....

Took a large doe this evening at 5PM after a brief one-hour sit in the stand. She came with the wind at her back, and walked right to me. I had to let her start quartering away before I could attempt a shot. I raised the muzzleloader and was horrified to discover a layer of frost on the eyepiece of my scope, rendering it completely useless! I quickly started wiping it with my parka, and she saw me and started trotting away. I mouth bleated her to a stop and nailed her. The scope was still pretty blurred, but at least I was able to get a sight picture.

Curious if you had the gun across your lap or if your hands were resting on the scope to create the moisture that froze?
I realized I was doing that on one of the cold days earlier this year....had the gun in my lap and it was dripping wet where my hands were resting on it. I started leaving my scope coat over the scope to try and keep the lenses clear.

I'm going to hunt tomorrow morning. I'll take a doe if the right one presents the opportunity. I haven't killed a doe for 3 years.

Had a spike waltz into the foodplot at 530. Almost shot him thinking it was a doe until he turned his head. First deer I've seen in a week.

Curious if you had the gun across your lap or if your hands were resting on the scope to create the moisture that froze? I honestly don't know what caused the ice. Sure, scopes have fogged up before from my heavy breathing when I was new to hunting, but never actual ice like this, and certainly not on a Nikon. I had the barrel resting on the shooting rail, with the buttstock on my right thigh. My gloved left hand was holding the forearm of the muzzeloader, and my ungloved right hand was in my parka pocket staying warm. LOL! I leave the muzzeloader in the back of my Jeep Cherokee whenever I'm not hunting, so as to prevent condensation from forming when going from a cold environment to a warm one. I only bring it indoors after the season ends.

I'm sitting in the cedar tree stand in the middle of the Powerline cut at Metamora. Got my daughter's .357 mag rifle this morning for a little something different. The right doe in the right spot gets it this morning.

Not a thing here. I'm really stumped with my dad's place this year. It's usually crawling with deer and beat down from activity this time of the year. The spike last night was the first deer I've seen here since opening weekend.
