Parents, instructor ... even the girl herself .... someone should have been smart enough to know that an inexperienced child has no business shooting a fully automatic anything. Nothing good could come of it.

Can't get the video to play; was it indeed a full auto?

Very tragic & sad thing to happen. A fully auto firearm is no way to teach a child about firearms. This will only give the "Anti-Gun" people more ammunition to use against gun owners.

Can't get the video to play; was it indeed a full auto? Yes. Looked to be a select fire Uzi. Instructor let her shoot a single round and then it looks like he makes the switch to fully auto. Girl squeezes trigger and gun raises up and to the left and you can hear 10 shots or so. The instructor was over her left shoulder and as the gun recoiled up he was shot in the head.

I'm going along with STUPID then. You know that poor girl is just in pieces now.

Stupid is right, and plenty of it to go around in this case.

The lack of common sense displayed by people today is frightening....

I don't understand why people give kids full magazines when letting them shoot full auto. Three of four rounds is plenty for them to learn with.

Like anything else I would say it greatly depends on the youth.....

The question I have is,why does a kid that young need to learn how to shoot an uzi in the first place? I've been shooting for 40 years and I've never shot 1,haven't had a need to. I think we can all agree that was a completely brain dead thing to do. Mini Uzi's are one of the more difficult ones to control at that. I found the video at another place and got it to play and I'm also amazed that even if your brain is turned off to the point of sending her out there in the first place that once he saw her fire the one round semi auto he didn't halt it right there; it was painfully obvious it was way more than she could control. How anyone could flip the fun switch after seeing her shoot it once is beyond me. Now if you haven't shot one you are missing out; I've fired a few different ones and they are great fun. Enjoyed learning to put controlled bursts where you want them to go. Lastly, what does NEED have to do with it! Besides they fall under the protection of the 2nd Amendment and the NFA regulations are a violations of it. (even though the politicians and judges won't acknowledge that) Besides, what was the intent of the 2nd amendment in the first place? Are they not a useful tool towards that?

I don't need to shoot one either. But if you asked me to shoot one, you can bet I would. NEED has absolutely nothing to do with this.
This was not an accident. Accidents are things you can't see coming. While nobody could predict with any certainty that a death would occur, this situation going bad was entirely predictable. You can see in the video this girl is NOT experienced with guns. Regardless of age, do you put an uzi in the hands of someone with no apparent experience with guns? Extreme lack of parental judgement, combined with extreme lack of professional judgement on the part of the instructor is what caused this incident.
So now what you have is two families (at least I'd assume) that are devastated, and one young girl that will probably never recover fully, all because of some reckless adults.

Based on some of the comments here ... and many other places including the usual suspects in the media .... this will be used as a push to support some type of law to "ensure this never happens again".
Lawmakers will use the word "need" when describing how they are going to take away bits and pieces of the Second A.
Children do not "need" to do this so therefore we are going to make a law prohibiting it. While we are at it lets go ahead and say any person under 18 is a "child" and therefore prohibited.
You know it will happen .... and the attitude of many gun owners who think they are supporters of the Second Amendment will allow it to happen if the circumstances are right.

"Need" is subjective...

"nobody needs" is much different than "I dont need".
All too often they are used interchangeably by folks who wish to control the actions of others based on their perception of things ....
