Well I ain't seeing any ducks around Marion. We've been field hunting (goose) north of Marion and all we're seein' is resident Giants.

You can't please everyone and no matter what dates you set someone will not like it. If you don't like the dates, then don't hunt! The rest of us will just deal with it and go out and hunt instead of sitting on our computers and whining. The only reason i'm on the computer is because they shut duck season down. Don't give me that "whining stuff". I'd be hunting if season was still in. I agree, you can't please everyone but seems everyone I talk to down here wants later seasons. Can't figure out how these "surveys" all went to fair weather hunters. If you guys want to email Adam Phelps and tell him all of this you can but he will tell you that he has to appeal to the hunter survey data. The survey data from the most recent survey (2005) favored a 9 day early season and the next choice was a 14 day early season. Yeah there were lots of emails sent to adam last year regarding this same issue. He replied and basically said: surveys and data is what they went off of. I think its time to send some new surveys out. Personally, I do not care for 9 days early and I prefer 3. An easy solution for that is to hunt the 3-4 days that I want to hunt then quit. Well at least we agree on the length of early season. Not hunting the remeinder of the early season is not a solution for backing the dates up. |

If any of you read the survey and knew anything about how surveys are conducted, you would have plainly seen that it was not put together very well. I don't understand how you could have based the season dates on that crap survey. I know for a fact if a new survey is conducted, it will be drastically different.

The survey will definitely be different from this year. The '05 survey was not written by Adam Phelps. He had just hired on when they sent the surveys out and had no chance to provide any input on the surveys.
The surveys are sent out via random draw. I never received one but that's the way it is. I think we had the perfect dates a couple years ago. I think we started Nov 23-24 and went to Jan 21 and had a 3 day early season.
We'll just have to wait and see what the new survey data shows.

I'd love to get it back to a few years ago. Run it til the 20th or so. I'd even love to see them put a split in our season (south zone) and run it to the 25th or 30th. I hope to see some change soon. I hope Adam will get things changed for us.
