My girlfriend, megan, has shot a total of 4 geese this year and her 4th one was banded. This band is extra special to me, one because my girlfriend shot it and two because its the first band ive got here in my home town of decatur township. She was super pumped! She has shot all he geese with her 20 ga. as you can tell im pretty proud of my lil lady right now. I took some better pics with the rest of the bag from the day on my 35mm so i will get them up later on.  |

That is great. Did you get her a blind yet or are you guys using the sameone. She had put her share of time in out in the cold weather. Way to go Megan.

Jake- I seem to remember someone posting a pic of their girlfriend who passed the hunter's ed right before the September season. Is this her?

yep same girl, she got a 12ga for christmas but i need to find some where to get the stock trimmed down to fit her better

Jake, There is a guy down in Martinsville that cut down my wife's O/U. I can't think of his name right now but the guys at the outdoorsman recommended him to us. His prices were fair and he did an excellent job. Not a real fancy place and not in the nicest part of town but I would definitely recommend him. Adam OK, I looked it up. Not being a waterfowler someone is going to have explain the significance of "taking a band". I know that they are used for tracking purposes but that is about it.

I notice there is more than one band in that picture....... smart man! Jake is only 17.  Dad- bands are put on some birds, but no where close to a majority. They want you to report them; it helps with tracking and aging. Once the bands are reported you are supposed to get a certificate with the banding info (banding date, approximate age of bird, where it was banded and by who). Then there are "Miner" bands. I haven't quite figured those out yet! ;D |
