I have been seeing a bunch of geese in a field a couple miles from my house just outside of Lafayette, for the last few afternoons. And lucky for me it's a field I can hunt. But it is one of those fields that the cops are going to get a call when the first shots get fired.
So I am going into Lowes this morning about 7:00 and see some guys setting up in it. I was a little surprised but not really worked up because once in a while the farmer will let other people hunt, and with all I had going I haven't been out at all. Fast forward to this afternoon and I call the farmer to check on a another spot for tomorrow morning and ask him who was hunting his other feild.
He said, "I don't know but they got busted because I got a call from the cops asking if I had given these guys permission. I told the cops I hadn't given any of them permission."
These guys had the balls to use his name and the property owners name saying they had permission from both. The farmer said when he drove by the CO was loading their guns into his truck. ;D
I am going to find out the whole story next week. There is one group of guys in this area that think if they know the farmers name then they can hunt it. But I hope these guys get the book thrown at them.

I don't know who they are. I'm going to double check on their names since they were using mine. I hope this don't put me in a bad spot w/the land owner.

Were they saying that you had told them they could hunt it, or do you even know the details? Something tells me the landowner is fine with you, but probably PO'ed at the guys that got busted.

Not sure all what was said. They claimed to hunt w/me or something. The name I was told does not ring a bell. I hope to find out what this is all about soon. I just hate that they had to use my name.

I use your name Tim on all my spots. Stuff like this is exactly why I get and always have written permission on all the properties that I have to hunt and trap. 90% of the time the landowners are very elderly, and can sometimes forget that they even gave you permission way back in July or August. It's never came up, but if I ever run into a situation where I have to prove to a L.E.O. or I.C.O. that I have permission, I open my binder of permission slips and BAM.....there it is, signed in ink.

Just to be clear. Tim did nothing wrong and the dill-hole that was in there tried to drop his name. I made sure the farmers knew that Tim wouldn't be doing things like that and he is still ok to hunt on them as well.

I just don't want the farmers to think I hunt w/people like this. I try very hard to do things right. Most of the people I hunt w/do the right things to. Sometimes you have to find out about people the hard way. Two years ago I found out about a few guys the hard way and I never hunted w/them again. It could only take one mess up for the farmer to shut it down for eveyone.

Tim, Did this happen down by Schiede diesel? I sure hope not, because we can still hunt it,whenever. You guys are lucky. At least you have CO. that will do something. I've had 2 places ruined this season by people who have gotten permission from people who don't even own or farm the ground. They want to play games, we make it rather interesting for them. Vehicles towed, maybe setup in the field next to them and whackem', just anything to p@#ss them off enough where they do not come back. It's to bad that a sport has come down to this, but how much do you put up with?
