More nukes than anyone else - check
The ability to annihilate any foe in a matter of minutes of we chose to do so - check.
Largest economy in the world - check.
There is no list of credible superpowers that does not start with The United States as #1.

More nukes than anyone else - check The ability to annihilate any foe in a matter of minutes of we chose to do so - check. True, but unlikely to happen due to international condemnation of the action.Largest economy in the world - check. Incorrect. According to the International Monetary Fund, the World Bank, and the CIA World Fact Book the US was second to the European Union in 2013.There is no list of credible superpowers that does not start with The United States as #1. Getting less likely every day that Obeyme reigns.

Isn't the UE a conglomeration of nations? The US is still the single largest economy on earth.....
And yes....unlikely we would do it but we could.

The European Union is not a nation. It is a loose affiliation of many nations. When broken down as individual nations, the US is still TWICE as big as the next largest economy (China). What's more impressive is the fact that the US is only slightly behind the entire European Union which is 28 nations' statistics combined! The US is still an absolute Goliath!

The US is one nation. The EU is 28 nations with half a billion people with a loose agreement to try and keep their economies on the same page. They try to have a common currency but there are lots of other currencies still in use too. Last I checked, 17 countries were attempting to use the Euro. The EU is not a sovereign nation and it would surprise me greatly if they ever convince some of the big players to give up sovereignty.

If you randomly ask who on earth has the largest economy most are going to answer the US.

If this Country of ours, decreases as a world "superpower", then it will be due to a weakening economy, not based on how many "nukes" we have on hand. Our current leaders from Congress/senators & up to Obama's mismanagement, on many issues, will certainly weaken our Country's ability to retain that status as the top world power. WE NEED A CHANGE OF LEADERSHIP ON ALL FRONTS!!!

Thanks fellas for sharing your thoughts; it's interesting me. You are all more schooled in politics and history than I am.
You all know where my thoughts and opinions originate. I like to see the thoughts of the "world" separate from faith and prophecy.
DRS has an excellent point; there's more than one way to bring down a nation. We may never fire another nuke, have the ability or the will to. All great nations come to an end, ours is upon us ...I believe. But it's the foundation that is cracking in my opinion that's causing the downfall. I wouldn't be surprised if America willingly hands over the reigns ...sovereign power over its self. Well, this will happen prophetically, but I'm hoping that I'm not here to see it. I bet this is incredibly difficult for many to believe. No, we're not doing this today, but things will change fast and several single events can be the catalyst. I wouldn't be a bit surprised if President Obama(I've been trying to do better at showing respect for the office) becomes the leader of the "Americas". This would mean no election in 2016. Okay, it may seem like a stretch, but I wouldn't be surprised. Remember, things must drastically change for this to be conceivable. The change ...I have no doubt ...Obama's fate ...well, I really don't care.
Financially, we're doomed. A market crash is imminent, but worse ones will come. The Feds have been buying up treasury bonds, about 3 trillion worth, to keep the interest rates low(QE, quantitative easing). However, the 3 trillion is newly printed money DECREASING its value. This cannot continue and when it stops, interest rates will rapidly increase. It's all a balancing act, but will come tumbling down just like many were screaming years before the housing crash. But this does not scare me, because I see a worse fate financially. I think soon, the dollar will be replaced as a world currency to purchase oil. It's already being planned, and the coming crash could give the needed boost to accomplish the task.
Don't forget; I'm an optimist.

Don't forget; I'm an optimist. LOL, I'd hate to hear your gloomier predictions! I don't know where we are headed...neither does anyone else. But as a historian, I do know that things were NEVER as good as people like to reminisce. The notion of the "good old days" is a human construct. The economy is cyclical. I believe it will rebound.

With numbers like that, I don't really see a whole lot of change in our future.....

It seems folks hate every representative but their own. I do see power of the Senate changing hands though....would be surprised if it didn't. At least then there wouldn't be any "green", gun or tax legislation for a couple of years.

I believe we'll see drastic changes, not only in the Senate, but even in individual states mid-term elections. True, many do support their own representative, but this time around it just might be different. I just hope folks voting, will use their brain this time and vote for the best candidate.

Out of the 100 Senators we will rarely, if ever again, see more than 60 for one party or the other.
Out of the 435 House Members we will rarely, if ever, see more than 250 for one party or the other.
There are too many folks in the world who will only vote for party instead of candidate .... many of those type folks are right here on this fine site. Have you ever voted for a Democrat?
