Woody, you might want to check on your turkey blind,in Ky. We had a terrible storm down here in Kentucky last evening, with lots of high winds, lightning, and heavy rain. Don't know where your blind set-up is but it wouldn't hurt to check it out, if time allows. We lost our TV last night to lightning, SO, today I'll be TV shopping, hope you folks up in Southern Indiana didn't have much rough weather as we did. I can't recall seeing such an electric storm as the one last evening!!

I can't recall seeing such an electric storm as the one last evening!! It is an hour and half drive down there so we will wait until the opener to see if they are still there. We staked them down pretty good with large aluminum GI issue stakes. All four corners and all four ties to the middle of the sides. Eight stakes in all.. Hopefully that did it. Thanks..

There is not as much foliage here in Kentucky in the Forest right now because of the cooler weather we had this winter.
Kentucky Hunters still should harvest over 30,000 Turkeys this Spring.
Have a good hunt in Kentucky.

Can't wait for the morning. Blinds were already in place and just put a bird to bed over mine, maybe even too close. Bird numbers have been WAY down here since the drought 2 summers ago but tonight was promising. That long beard had 5 hens with him, 2 of which were bearded.

Had two "Jakes" show-up in my back yard, yesterday. They were about 20 yards from my back porch. Been hearing quite a bit of "gobbling" this past week.

Great morning!
Got in my blind and when it started to get light I could see birds roosted in the edge of the field about 100 yards from me. 5 hens and a gobbler. Had one hammering in behind me. About 6 they started pitching out. The gobbler first and then one by one the hens. They were out about 100 yards and behind a rise. I lost sight of them but last seen they were headed towards Woodmaster. Big mistake on their part. About 10 minutes later I could see a couple jakes coming in about 75 yards. They were both strutting. Then I heard Woodmasters 870 bark. He killed the gobbler that I saw roosted. Turkeys flew every direction . It is a Good three year old bird.

Good morning here too. Quite a bit of gobbling heard but only the 1 bird on us. Hot the ground at 605 and continued to gobble constantly til about 630. Shortly after that 1 of the bearded hens came out in the field from his direction so I just waited. Another hen came out on the other side of me that started talking to him. He fired up again and was in the field in no time. He ran into the bmobile and that was it. 2yo 9" beard 7/8"spurs 23lb10oz.

My decoys are hen magnets. I've had three different hens come in and check them out. One stuck around for 30 minutes.
You'd think they would drag in a gobbler with them

Woodmaster had his turkey laying outside the blind and vultures started circling about 15 feet up. He decided to put it in the blind.

Sounds like fun! I'm jealous. I'm here trimming my "treehouse". I heard a few gobbles between 9 and 10. Congrats to Woodmaster and good luck to the rest of you fortunate souls!

So far a lot of Turkeys have been taken across Kentucky this Spring. There should be a very good harvest this Spring.

So far a lot of Turkeys have been taken across Kentucky this Spring. There should be a very good harvest this Spring. I know, as I've checked various counties in Kentucky via Telecheck and good number of harvests are showing up. Now as for me; yesterday, I had a great chance to harvest a huge 7" bearded Tom on my property. Had my shotgun loaded but I really didn't have the heart to shoot him, so I let him walk. I've yet had the opportunity to harvest a Wild Turkey, but my Brother got one (Jake) the first year we moved here on opening day. Personally, I am not really a Bird Hunter, my choice of game is Squirrels, Rabbits, and Deer. I am seeing a good number of Turkeys here on my property just got seeing two Jakes out in the back field. GOOD LUCK TO ALL KY TURKEY HUNTERS!!

Yep; they really love blinds out in the open, had one come up behind me while turkey hunting, didn't know it was there until it started blowing at me.
