I won't make the meeting, but will someone please offer up the idea of a TELE-CHECK SYSTEM. If it works for deer in IL and KY, I don't know why it wouldn't work for Geese in IN. Unfortunately that won't work for this hunt. They are going to be measuring the heads of the birds to determine if they are migrators or local birds. While a few of us may be able to make the appropriate measurements (not me) most will not. Thus the need to check them in person. All of the moaning about this hunt really discourages me. We should be happy that Adam Phelps et. al. have been able to get this season approved. Many people would rather the DNR simply oil the eggs or capture and destroy the birds. Every waterfowler in the state needs to do his best to make sure that this season is a success. If it is we may get to hunt these birds every February... If it's not a success because of people not checking them in, over bagging or who knows what else... we will only have ourselves and our fellow waterfowlers to blame. I for one hope to get out a time or two and get into some birds. Checking them in might be an inconvenience but it is a small price to pay for another opportunity to hunt. --hountzmj

Apparently Central Indiana counties are the only ones with geese problems *dodges another little green cigar*

Looks like they are focusing on the urban areas, and since about 30%-40% of the state's population is in Central Indiana, it makes sense that it is the largest portion of the areas being hunted. They are also really focusing on Chicagoland area, South Bend area, and looks like Terre Haute area, the largest concentrations of urban areas and therefore wanting to reduce the goose populations in those areas. It is ridiculous the amount of birds here in the Indy metro area!!! Now if only they will come out of city limits and play!! I don't think they will ever have a statewide Feb. canada goose season, this is more of a urban reduction type thing.
