Another vote for the Mosin here, either my M91/30 or M44. Otherwise going to 44 mag for this next season.

As the vastly over whelming shots at deer in Indiana are under 100 yards, a Winnie '94 in 30-30 that I bought from the PX back in '67 as a Lance Corporal in the Marine Corps would be the choice. Less than 2 boxes of ammo has been fired through it, and has remained a safe queen for all those years.

I think that it will happen... one day.

It is far from a gun safe queen but I would have to take my matching numbers 1942 Mosin Nagant 91/30 P/U sniper. It is my most accurate long range large caliber rifle. I would be using a 180 gr. SPBT 7.62x54r round. I was going to hunt in Kentucky with it but after seeing that Ky jacked up their out of state hunting licence prices I decided to keep my hunting at home. I have been practising with it & I'm able to hit a paper plate from 400yds away, too bad paper is all I'll be punching with it.
