Been many years ago but I have eaten carp out of some of the nastiest bottom ground waters. I've got to say it wasn't all that bad..

the asian carp are suppose to be really good. its real white meat too and they arent bottom feeders. had a guy tell me he would trade crappie fillets for them on an even trade basis.

There is no way I'd eat any fish from any Asian river, they have the most polluted waterways on earth. Yuck!

Carp taste wonderful, if you know how to clean and cook them, and they taste horrible if you don't know how.
River carp, at least, also put up a very good fight, and are fun to catch.

if you think they put up a good fight when you catch them you should try shooting them with a bowfishing setup. 40 50 and 60 pounders are not an easy fight even after being shot.

I have had some carp prepared in a way that it was delicious. I've tried to do the same and it tasted like mud. Must've been the cook.

The asian carp we cooked this summer tasted like Williams dam smell. They don't have to eat off the bottom to taste like...yuck. I wouldn't starve if that was the only source of protein, but would have to get more spices to help out.
Nothing compared to the more typical game fish. I'd trade the dude 10 pounds to one pound if he is serious!
They do make good bait though and the flesh is nice and white, just bones all over and taste like algae covered slime.
