I am planning on trying to find another Handi-Rifle in 44 mag right before Christmas when guys are trying to sell stuff to pay bills after they just bought the gun new to hunt with and spentg too much on the holidays.
It never fails - go to Wal-Mart from 3pm to 8pm and see all the guys lined up to buy deer tags and a new shotgun the night before deer season. I always walk by and laugh at them - I think they actually believe that they can buy a brand new gun and take it out the next day and actually hit what they are aiming at without ever having fired it before that moment...lol.
I will keep you posted as to what transpires. BUT.....I have a 50 cal Green Mountain barrel that is the long range hunter model($225 just for the barrel that I got new in an unopened container at a flea market for $5.00) and I have been trying to find an action to put it on as a donation to the hunt with no luck. I finally gave up and decided to just buy the 44 mag this time.
I think I like the idea of the Handi-Rifles instead of the muzzleloader. I prefer to teach the kids with a muzzleloader because it takes them back to the roots of hunting and it teaches them so much more about how the actual firing system works in a rifle.
I will do what I can and anyone wishing to assist is welcome to join me in my merriment.

Here she is, sighted 1" high at 50yds.: I was fairly impressed with it. Felt recoil while more than my 357Max Encore, was noticeably less than my 1894 Marlin in 44Mag. The trigger is not quite target quality, however it is shootable and the rifle grouped up very well. If you told me I had to do my IN hunting with it, I would have no problem with that. I picked up a box of 240gr JSP's so the winner would have factory to hunt with (I'm not taking the fall for my reloads!!!). I shot 5 of them so there are 45 left.

Okay guys....I found another 44 mag. Handi-Rifle - - this one is black stock and this time with a decent scope - in the original box with all the paperwork and manual and safety lock and all that stuff to boot. Should make a great rifle for someone. NO MORE LAST MINUTE!!!! LOL I have nearly a year to get it to Woody or Dave Sent Woody a pic...maybe he can post it for you to see? ?

Happy to do it - I have found a couple more in the past couple weeks. One is new in the box and one is nearly new. I already bought one to give to my son - thinking of seeing if there are more still available right before Christmas....maybe get the next 2-4 years covered for the kids and have the time to get them rigged and ready every year. We will see how things go in the next couple months. I will keep you all posted.

Just closed a deal to have a friend of mine pick up another one for me in Indy today or tomorrow.
I am going to try to get to Indy tomorrow morning - that way I can pick up the rifle and maybe some of my ammo stash I have yet to get hauled here to my new house.
Plus this is a buddy who is in Virginia right now assigned to the Pentagon so haven't seen much of him the past 3 years and want to get together with him as well. We haven't had any shooting time together since we were at the SOCOM HQ at McDill air base in Tampa 5 years ago...would be nice to get away a couple days and use up some ammo.

By the way Woody - that target taped inside the lid was the previous owner shooting his reloads at 50 yards - he says the one flier was him moving...not the fault of the rifle...lol
And if I remember right....this one has a hammer spur for easier cocking for a youth hunter. As far as I can tell this is ready to shoot right out of the box.

Ok guys....since a few of you said you wanted to help set up the rifle this year and there was a last minute issue --- I have now given to Dave )DBD870) a new in the box 44mag handi rifle. It has the black composite stock on it. I still have the one that is rigged and ready as well. That can be for the following year.
SO!! If you wish to do something to add to a complete shooting rig for the drawing at next year's youth hunt just let Dave know and you guys can add to the kit, the gun or whatever you like.
It will need a scope, rings, sling, ammo, cleaning kit, bore cleaner, patches, hunting vest....whatever you guys wish to add to it to make it a great item for the kids.
Have Fun!!

Thanks for posting it. I keep forgetting to do so! At minimum it needs a scope & rings. Whatever I get I'll put to use. any case evening nothing comes in I will make sure it gets that on it
