Hello all. I'm new to the forum and to hunting. I have been thinking for several years about getting into duck/waterfowl hunting and finally made up my mind that this will be the year. Luckily, I have a great friend who has agreed to take me with him and show me the ropes.
I wanted to find out if there were any duck hunters on here from Johnson Co. Just let me know.
Thanks in advance for all of the help and tips that are offered here.

Jon Snow. I always enjoy meeting someone who knows how to spell Jon correctly by not adding the unnecessary "H". Now, you're not one of those lazy Jonathon's who just gets tired after a few letters are you?
You said you're new to the sport of duck hunting, what kind of hunting do you do?

Hello Jon, I'm a lazy recovering heart patient. I'm definitely not a Jonathon, nor a John. I love the name Jon spelled this way. Jon Snow is the name of my avatar photo and alter ego. I chose Jon from a show that I watch. In the show, he is often told, "You know nothing Jon Snow!" Since I know nothing about hunting, it fit. Oh man, I want to hunt anything that I'm willing to eat. I did hunt crow this year. It's fun and challenging, but I'd really rather hunt what I can or will eat. I sold all my predator hunting equipment to a guy on this site. He'll pay me some day. I haven't popped a squirrel yet, but I'm trying to stay out of my woods. If I see one in my backyard when I have my crossbow out, I'll get him. Currently, I'm planning for the deer season. I have a spot ready, but working on another. I have plenty of duck hunting equipment and boat now, but I don't have any goose decoys. I'd sure like to kill a goose. Rabbit hunting is a lot of fun. It's a good social event. I'm wanting to pheasant hunt this year, put-n-take is fine with me. I'd like to shoot doves too. I recently shot skeet with a fella from this site, and that was a blast! I think I just like shooting my guns, but think that I'll enjoy the hunt even more. Oh, turkey hunting was amazing! |
