I'm making my annual trip to Missouri and I'll have a newborn after the 1st of the year. Arkansas sounds fun though! Post up lots of pics when you get back.

Hey Jon Snow!!! I have everything needed as far as gear goes!! All you would need is bag full of clothes,, waders,, and gun/ammo!!! I plan on just venturing down there and finding a motel 6 in the general area that I would like to start in. Spend atleast the first entire day scouting and then make adjustments from there!! There is a number of public land parks we could get into! 7 days sounds like a good starting point! As I stated,, it all depends upon what we could find as we started scouting also. I don't plan on hiring a guide,, just doing the good ol cyber scouting as we go!

I am all for takin the newbie along!! I have guided roughly say ten years!! However,, on this trip I am not looking to be the guide! I tell ya what I am looking for. I have spent roughly 10 G's on gear! Give or take a few pennies. What I am looking for is a fella that can appreciate that and what they can bring to the table is the cash it will take for making the trip happen. Lets say,, It takes gas in the truck to get to Arkansas,, it takes cash for the motel once we get there. I will buy my own hunting license,, but the rest is where another fella could make this a successful trip also! I have the gear and knowledge already. I have never been to Arkansas,, but I am all for giving it a whack!!!

I've got duck decoys, calls and a fine boat myself, plus I'm very entertaining to have around. How about I just follow you down there like a stalker ...the duck stalker ...the duck hunter stalker. LOL
So you're looking for someone to pay for everything except your license? I'm not certain, but I might be able to find a better deal. :-)
Anybody out there want to go hunting with me? I've got decoys, calls and a boat.

I got a lot of buds up here that will go along fer free!! Hech I thought somebody payin fer the gas and motel sounds like a pretty good deal. I don't know where else you can get a flooded timber package cheaper than that? Not just any boat can run that kinda terrain,, and we talkin a full spread of G n H ducks,, not just any dekes. I am no pro by any means,, but I like to think I am just a touch advantaged at killin also!! So I think you might be getting a little something for your money's worth on gas and motel? It is illegal to guide into those parks,, but if it was legal I would guess the price would be up there a bit?

I just figure that gas to Arkansas in a truck pulling a boat would be pricey alone, not to mention a hotel for 6-7 nights. I was looking at a guide in Missouri for early 2014, but haven't confirmed anything with him yet. I do have some nice equipment, and would really like to use it. I don't have much money, but if I buy something I want it to be good. Next year I'm hoping to take all my stuff to Horicon Marsh in Wisconsin. I really don't mind hunting by myself as long as I feel like I'm learning something it's fun.
I figure one day with joeb and I'll know everything that I need to know.
Thanks pigeon.

Well I still think this way would be cheaper than a guided hunt. Just a guess,, but I think for 2 bucks in gas,, and say another 2 bucks in motel 6,, give er take another 1 dollar er 2,, I say that will still be cheaper than a guided hunt somewhere. And we get the satisfaction of doing it on our own. I have not read up completely on all the rules,, but a lot of the parks have HP restriction,, time limits at the boat ramps, shell limit restrictions. All in all I think it could be a great trip! Not sure but I would guess a guided hunt would be upwards up 2-3 bucks per gun per day. Not counting lodging and getting down there. I have it on my bucket list to try the flooded timbers one time!! As I say,, I have all the gear we would need!!

I am all the way up noRt at the very top of top Indianer,, so I could stop anywhere down along the way to pick up,, so that way we would only be taking one vehicle down. As long as the person doesn't mind riding with my stankin cow,, cause lord knows she cant ride in the back of the truck in her cow cage like normal dogs do!!!

If it froze up you'll have to hunt the river.

Ark. is not what it was. Still good but you can have good days here when its right. I do enjoy going there after duck season for snow geese during the conservation season. Generally kill 200-400 on a 3 day trip.

200 hundred for gas an another 200 for hotel? That's funny. we spend 300 on gas going to Missouri which is closer than Arkansas plus we don't have to drive all over scouting, nor do we pull a boat or trailer, an 200 hotel will get ya maybe 4 nights. id say it would be more like 400 for hotel an if your going to drive all over scouting ect, another 400 in gas. I pay that for a guided 4 day hunt meals cooked in the pit for me ect, my gas , an part of the hotel. I don't have to do any work other than help clean the birds. I understand some people prefer the do it yourself hunts. An that's fine. Personally I feel asking one person to go with you and asking them to pay for everything but your license is a little ridiculous. Now if their where 4 or 5 guys that u knew thta were going an u supplied all the gear except gun/ammo/waders maybe it would be a little different. But to ask someone that you don't really know go to an pay for all of that is wrong in my book. 50/50

I am bettin yer a fella with $5 dekes wntin to kill limits also? Lets put the 50/50 in perspective then,, I have a rig that I spent $8000 on,, I have 6 dozen dekes all top dollar that are roughly a grand all in individual slot bags. I just spent another $2000 this year on my motor,, so would you include that also? So since its 50/50 maybe is should start at $5500. In my mind,, someone paying for the gas would be a fair trip. Plus,, you boyz are forgetting who they will get guiding them around,, and you know Pigeon is gonna whack'em!! AND YOU KNOW THIS MAN!!!!
