I want to try this goose hunting experience you all talk about and need a little help from you experts. I have a LL, so what kind of waterfowl stamp or stamps do I need and where do I buy them. I already have the HIP number. I have a old Remington 1100 2 3/4 full choke barrel. What kind of reasonably priced shells should I buy. I know I will be limited to a shorter range then those cannons you all use but it should be fun letting them know I'm around. Thanks for all the free advice.

With a LL all you need is the Federal stamp, the state came with your lic. As for shells get a box of sportsmans #2 or BB's and see if you like it. They you will start looking for "your cannon". Good luck and enjoy.

Basic Hunting LL or LL comprehensive? The basic does not have the stamps.

I'd definately look over all the regs first before heading out Ranger..... lots of ways to make the green men write ya a pink ticket if you don't know all the state and federal regs.

You will also need a H.I.P. number.

Ok, where do you buy the Federal stamp. Are the non toxic shells better then steel shot?
One more thing, this goose hunting adventure won't become habit forming and lead me down the path of no return?

Oh No, well you might need a 3.5" shotgun, waders, boat, layout blind, 2 to 10 dozen duck decoys and the skies the limit on the goose decoys. But besides that its NOT HABIT forming.

Fed stamp you can get at Gander Mountain and steel will kill them just fine. Yes, this is extremely addictive...

Thanks for all the help. Now it can't be that habit forming can it? I'm retired and hate like heck to have to get a job to pay for all those extras.

I'd check with a reputable gunsmith or better yet ask Remington about shooting steel if your gun is a fixed full choke.

Good catch Art........ He might have an issue there. Tightening steel down to a full choke in a barrel not made for it could be dangerous.

Yes it is a a fixed full choke barrel. Does that mean a new barrel for the old Rem or will some other loads like non toxic work it it?

If it was my gun and I really wanted to shoot steel I'd look for a barrel with choke tubes.

Maybe I should raffle it off? Lets say $25 a ticket and we'll have the drawing when I sell the last of the 200 tickets and I will not buy one. I promise I'll turn around and put all money received into new goose decoys and calls.
