The tree on the ridge I was up against this morning. I went back for an afternoon hunt and noticed a yellow jacket flying around. Right at the base of the tree is their nest and they were pumping in and out of that hole. Got stung twice last week cutting wood and want nothing to do with them. Next to my compost pile I ran into another nest today. I won this round.
went out this morning saw 10 or so, but most saw me before i saw them. ended up with 2. first time (and last) that i used my .17 to hunt with. wow does it tear them up! then went back out this afternoon saw another 10 but only scratched out one. but man was it great to get out there. so score three for team 7

Quickie hunt this AM. First time in this woods. Worth a little time it seems investigating.
One hour 10 minutes, saw 4, shots at 2. One mile from home. Taking my STOOL from now on.....and binoculars lol.
Don't make too much fun of my hoosier handyman cheek rest. Only scope I had was 44 mm and took HIGH rings. Mediums were close but no cigar. WORKS good. 1986 Marlin 60....still shoots em in there for me. Should have bought TWO then.
Two more for team two. Havent heard back from the guys on a name, Woody.
God Bless

Ole Uncle Henry put the rat a tat tat on a couple of grey rats today. Only 15 minutes in the woods and took them both off the same log within about 10 seconds. Shot one off the log and another that was on the ground jumped up to take his place...at least for a few seconds!!!
Score 2 for The Naked Indians.

Sounds like a regular shooting gallery ..

Score another one for Team 9/Nut Busters. First gray I've EVER killed in 35 years hunting our property here in NW Greene. Killed them not far from here in Clay and Owen, but we've only been seeing them here for 3 or 4 years.

And one more for team 2. Only dang thing I saw tonight. I have a photo but it's rather gruesome as some head shots are.
Better day than yesterday counting the 2 this AM but......something still seems off in the woods' I've been in. Very few birds, no squirrels barking at all.
God Bless

Well Russ I am living up to our team name. Got up later than I needed too, started rushing around to get going. Went to the conservation club there in Martinsville and got started up the hill. While stopping to catch my breath and I reach around and felt my back pocket, and you know that little piece of equipment that carry's your $$$, receipts, pics, honey do list and oh yea and your hunting license.Back at home on the table. So headed back home and called hunting off due to lack of gray matter. Its not worth getting a ticket, possibly losing my rifle or my membership at the club (which is very hard to get). Hey Woody how about that handicap ? LOL

Made it out for a short jaunt into the old growth pines behind the house. I didn't have a lot of time since I have to can tomatoes today. In thirty minutes I seen three. One was over on my neighbor and she doesn't allow hunting. One was being chased to another tree by a red squirrel and didn't give me a clean look before the third showed up and I rolled him out of the tree.

Two more this AM for Team 2. Saw five (all at once!), two shots and the rest disappeared. I sat still for another hour without a sound or leaf moving. Grrrrrrrr!
God Bless

Woody, please add 5 to Team 7. The little boogers were not moving for a while this morning; but then I got into a pocket of them cutting away in a few hickory trees, I spoiled their breakfast and managed to limit out . I need to get photobucket set up so I can post pictures, maybe later today or tomorrow.
