I was so pleased with the blind I built on my Metamora lease that I decided to build another. This one is on my own property in Southern Dearborn County. Exact same pattern (5X5 and about 6 1/2 feet tall). Same material too. Just need to do curtains! Guy in second pic is a friend who helped me build this one.

I think I will just cut a bunch of 12 inch wood squares, paint, put hooks on them, leave them in the blinds and hang them over the sides when hunting. I hate that new law.

Man, here's a guy that knows how to spend his time. Awesome Met!
I have a question about the orange. I've been looking around for orange things to put on my blind. I'm hoping that someone will sell exactly what is needed for a blind. Seen anything?

I'm hoping that someone will sell exactly what is needed for a blind. Seen anything? Last year Rural King was selling a 4 pack of orange squares (12" X 12") that comes with pins to hook it right to the blind. Each piece fulfills the 144 square inch law; the material seemed to be of good quality once I opened it. I would check there to see if they have any if not now I would assume that they will get some in closer to the opening of firearms season. Metamora, these are some nice looking blinds. One idea on the orange if you didn't want the hassle of having to hang wood pieces everytime you hunt out of them, you could just tape of a 12 X 12 square and paint the required orange right on the tin. I have seen a few blinds like this but it does make them stick out like a sore thumb. That being said if a more concealed look is what you are after unless you are hunting then the painted wood would be a better option. Scott

I'll make it over to Rural King to check it out.

looks good Meta.....
I bought some Hunter Orange off of eBay last year for our youth hunt blinds.. It is Cordura nylon so it pretty tough. Since these were in areas were trespassers could steal the blinds, we ended up clothes pinning them on the blinds only when they were occupied.

Jon check this out: Blind CapsLast year I cut out pieces of cardboard the totaled 144 in2 (not necessarily 12"x12" squares) and spray painted them orange, then I used binder clips to clip them on the blind under the window. Someone recommended using the plastic election/campaign signs; however, I never got my hands on any.

36fan,
Did you cut them into strips and spread them apart to help break them up? I had not thought of that. I like that idea. I assume it is legal....doesn't say it has to be one solid patch of orange, does it?

This is a really good question. I know that I read that the hat, gloves, etc had to be all orange not broken up, but could have a logo. I just don't like the idea of having a uniform sign on my blind. I'll probably get a cap like 36fan posted.

I assume it is legal....doesn't say it has to be one solid patch of orange, does it? No, I used box lids that were rectangle shaped. I thought about doing 144 1 in2 pieces, but decided that would be too much hassle. The regulation says you have to have 144 in2 per side, it doesn't say how it has to be configured or that it has to be continuous.

Well it looks like all you need now is a couple of comfy swivel chairs, a small propane stove for beverages and lunch vittles, a small table stand, a cribbage board, small backgammon board, and a deck of cards with a pocket full of 22's.

Curtains (camo mesh) and back "door". (Burlap) are now installed on blind number 2. Fresh deer sign within bow range!

If you were to put that on top of a 4 foot platform the hunter orange requirement does not apply.
Another option to meet the orange requirement would be orange curtains, or at least a portion of the curtains on each side.

Both of these blinds are awesome... I'm currently looking for land to purchase then I'll build something like this for myself.

I want to build a few of these, but can't seem to find the time: I would love to have tow or three of these! 4x4 wire fence and some straws strips?
