John, Bring it with you for the golf outing and we'll work on it! ;D If you have the chance you need to come up to the seminar we're having "Grammar School 101" with Scott Threinen. That is going to be an intense training seminar on all things related to goose hunting and calling. By the way, you should have bought a SS call!! How broke in are the guts? Is it a used call or a new one?

Yes it is terrible but it was late and i was tired and did not feel like downloading another one. LOL
It is a used call i bought it from the Goose Master. (art)
I told the wife i was going to buy it and she said sure thats fine. One hour later we purchased a $600 dining room table set. I knew it was too good to be true.

Travis, I agree the picture work is alittle weak! Needs a good macro lens for that! As far as the details on the Grammar School 101 seminar, it is posted here in another thread huntingindiana.proboards52.com/index.cgi?board=waterfowl&action=display&thread=1179452851 . We're in the process of nailing down the location for the event. We tried to have it a the Lunkers store, but they just don't have a meeting room to use for the event. So I believe we are going to use the Holiday Inn Express conference room in Mishawaka. I'll post up all the details once we are set. I'm really looking forward to it, should be a great time.

John...don't let them scare you, you can learn just as quick on that one as you can on any, just need to bet the basics. Listen to you tape and practice. If you need some help I'm sure Matt will be more than happy to assist and I'm only a few miles down the road. Nope, I'm not a pro-staffer. ;D ;D
Does anyone want to buy a new with original box SS-2 Mallard Green, $115.00?

You'll do fine John, that is a good call to learn on, it has alot of built in back pressure so a very easy call to blow for a beginner. To start out make sure and learn proper hand placement, to create the sound chamber and control your backpressure. From there you want to learn the basic building blocks of the different calls, learn to do a hail call or honk ( I use "WHO-WIT"), learn the cluck (I use WIT), and learn the moan (I use "AHH"), another good basic to learn is the growl which is good for upclose and wary birds, kind of a laydown call (I use "GRR-GRR" or "GUH-GUH"), just a deep gutteral sound used by feeding or content birds on the ground. Alot of times with resident birds you are set up where they want to be and it doesn't requre much calling or very aggressive calling, just some easy clucks, moans, and alot of that deep growling with a few easy clucks mixed in. Learn these basics and make sure you can perform them on command before you try and advance to the more basic calls, otherwise it will be frustrating to try to much at first. Good luck and you can always hit me up if you have questions.
