I dont see how nibody wantinh your bullets means that the PBs make good hunting bullets. Be happy youve had good luck with the PBs so far. Id hold on to the other bullets for the future, youll never know when youll need them. Like I said-I'd have to pull the breechplug and literally jam these in the barrel.....just not something that I think would produce the kind of consistent results that I have been enjoying. So these Hornady's are just taking up space in my ammo cabinet and I"m too chintzy to throw them out but hoping some one can get some use out of them. We've discussed this before that different guns use different ammunition even though it may be the same caliber so to have someone just blatantly say that a certain type/maker of ammunition is trash just doesn't hold up. Everyone has their favorites for ammo and as long as it works well for them then don't throw the baby out with bath water!

dadfsr, not sure why you are waving the PB flag but there are better performing bullets for muzzle loading on deer. I dont care what brand anyone buys or uses but a bullet used for deer hunting that blows up or frags out will eventually end up with a lost deer. One lung deer go a long way and many are never found.
The closer the deer the more this scenario plays out. h.h.

Once again, that has not been the results I have enjoyed and until this year (which I have described) have always had two holes with the exit being easily four times the size of the entrance. So just why would I change with those results??? IIRC I even talked about the splatter pattern on the tree that was behind the doe my daughter shot last year-I have yet to see anyone talk about results like that. These deer have been shot at ranges from 20 yards out to almost a hundred and all have had the same consistent entrance/exit patterns. It has always amazed me the damage that has been done. BTW I'm currently using a Knight DISC which I think someone said didn't have as large (maybe sloppy?) of a 50 cal dia as other smokepoles on the market....however the Traditions inline that I was using before (and which my daughter usually uses now) also gave the same results using the PB's... How do you want to handle the packaging and shipping of these Hornady's? I'd love for someone to get some use out of them.

First things first, vwthing74, congrats on your buck. As far as the 295 gr. PB's, I tried them and was not satisfied with them. My experience was differant then yours, on two deer I had complete pass thur with no exspansion which resulted in a very minor blood trail for tracking. Hole coming out was same size as going in. I can't speak for the 348gr PB, never tried them. Besides being accurate, the two things I want to see is expansion and penetration. Personally, I get all three qualites in the Barnes expander, they are an all copper bullet. I like a larger bullet and use either the 290gr T-EZ or the 300gr MZ. I by no means am saying they are the only or best choice but one you may consider.

Wow guys....I'm almost sorry for typing my original post now. I didn't mean to start any controversy about the merits of PB bullets or any other brand. I was just commenting on what this one did as it entered the buck, hitting a rib bone. Personally, I am thrilled at the outcome - dead deer that crashed within sight of my stand.
I hope everyone is able to connect this season and bring home a deer of their choice and enjoy their experience in the woods. Good Luck to all.

I stopped using the PB bullets even tho they were very accurate and east to load, they didnt produce what I wanted when I shot deer with them, which is a stevie wonder capible blood trail and dead deer. PB's are the rage of the muzzleloading world. LOL love em until you lose a deer with them and then wonder why everyone told you there was a more reliable tool for killing deer.

Ive hunter with powerbelts and use them exclusively with deer and muzzleloader (T/C Omega with 90 grains of triple 7). In the 245 grain the bullets due sufficient damage to kill but not exit any of the deer I have shot. The 295 to a one have all exited and done massive damage to the chest. None of my deer (including two friend who used my rifle) have travelled more than 30 yards before dropping. The accuracy out of my Omega is much better than any other bullet I have shot out of my rifle. I would not go below the 295 as I also prefer the two holes over one in shooting a deer. I can only speak for myself and do not want to get into any debate as above on this. If your happy with hornaday, excellet and I'll hopefully see you on a hunt some time. If you like powerbelts the same to you too. Everyone has a preference. The accuracy, the ease of loading, and the excellent terminal performance I have had has made me a loyal fan.

Powerbelts suck IMO. No way would I recommend them to anyone.
