Duff and I were out early this morning sitting in the decoy spread all snuggled up in our blinds. The birds started flying early but only to land in the pond across the road from us. We did get a group of four geese to buzz right over the decoys (definitely shooter birds) but we left them live for another day. Later had a group of eight sail directly over head and those too made it safely to the pond. Many, many, many birds seen, zero shots fired (what's up with that, it's not my style). Thats it Duff, I'm done bird watching and band hunting, next time out I'll be looking to up this years totals.

I second that motion. Good luck this weekend if you make it out. I hope to be cleared for more hunting on Monday. I have a good feeling that will happen and hopefully a few birds will crash land. But boy did we see some freaking birds today!!!!

You know some days it's not about the number of birds stacked on the tailgate, it's about increasing the number of bands on your lanyard.

Yes it's been a few years. I started hunting them when I lived in Pa and I believe I killed my first goose in 1975. Of course we hunted them a little different than what I do now and there were very few resident birds. We seen lots of migrant geese but they rarely ever stopped over in the area where I lived. Killing a goose was almost as rare as killing a turkey.
