Boilermaker i read some if the same stuff that you mentioned witj the slide locking up didnt sound like a lot of people had that problem but a few, I can get a like new, used 887 DU for just under $300. How did you like yours? I liked mine pretty well, the gun was unstoppable. And the rain and snow and everything else wouldn't hurt it (as long as you keep the guts clean). It took a beating in the duck boat on the river for 2 years and you couldn't tell it at all when I sold it. Only reason I got rid of it was because I grew up on autos and didn't like shooting a pump as well as my buddy's 11-87, which is why I ended up buying one.

Been shooting a nova since they came out. Wouldnt trade it for anything. Packs quite a punch but nothing a recoil reducer and pad wouldnt take care of. Ive put literrally thousands of rounds through mine with no problems at all. To each is to own though. Get some buddies together with an asoretment of guns. Supply the hot dogs and beverages and take a few for a test run.

Well I may run down to Whitts when I get off work and see if they have any deals on something used. Been checking thier website used inventory but it hasn't been updated since the 18th and with tax checks coming and as busy as thet place gets that inventory could be totally wrong. I'll post back if make a purchase. Thanks again for everyone's insight.

I've been shooting an 11-87 for several years now for sporting clays and some waterfowl shooting and have never had a malfunction. I shoot mostly the cheapo Estate brand trap loads on sporting clays, up to 3" waterfowl loads and it always cycles properly.
The predecessor to the 11-87 was the 1100 and these were notorious for jamming up when you shot low brass, light loads. Two different guns that look very similar.
Don't get a pump if you think you ever might want to shoot sporting clays with it, pumps stink for that sport.
