What kind of thrower are you looking for? Single direction? Wobble? What kind of birds do you want to throw? Skeet? Trap? Trap doubles? International Trap? How many clay birds do you want to load into the machine at a time? How many birds do you think you'll go thru in a year? (industrial machine vs. homeowner grade)
I did some research for a friend last year. He wants to throw biodegradeable birds, and the best prices that I found on birds was from Back Forty Sporting Clays. The birds are made in Knox, Indiana, they said my buddy could pay them for the birds, they'd order a pallet of them, and we'd just go to Knox and pick them up. (My buddy is in Knox).

Nothing fancy....just something to get Son started shooting at moving targets!!! Prefer a electric model.

Unless you're planning on doing a whole lot of shooting just using one of the spring loaded mechanical throwers should more than be adequate. The mechanical one I have is mounted with GOOD tarp straps on an old wheelbarrow that allows me to keep a box of clays right there, is easily transportable and can be easily tweaked some while throwing to give different patterns and heights. My son and daughter both went through many years of using this at home while doing 4-H shooting sports and I still drag it out a couple of times a year for the Scouts or whoever else wants to bust a few birds. Just saying....

Do-All White Wing Automatic Trap Thrower can be bought for right around $300. If you have a tractor with forks, you can mount it on a pallet along with the battery and move it around pretty easily.
The neighbor has one mounted on a extended hitch haul. He mounts it on the back of his UTV and keeps the battery and clay birds in the back of the UTV.
