Can't wait. I think the State record is 195 if I remember correctly. The state record TYPICAL is 195 1/8", according to my 2008 record book. A 191" net typical would crack the top 10, while a 191" non-typical would probably be lucky to make the top 50. Regardless, that's a buck of a lifetime.

The typical record is 195-1/8 held by B D. Porter of Rockville. He bowkilled it in Parke county in 1985 The non-typical record is 254 1/8 held by Zolton Dobsa of Cincinnati. He slug gun killed it in Switzerland county in 1977.

190 gross inches of bone is still one hell of a buck.

I know a guy that shot a 190" deer when he was still a kid. He couldn't care less.... he wanted to sell it last I knew.

On the flip side you have guys who obsess each year trying to kill a booner and will likely die before they get that opportunity.
170 or better is a special thing.....to me at least.

A looooonnnngggg time before OBR. B & C class bucks have been roaming this state for a very very long time. I truly believe the main reason so many are discussed lately is the vast amount of habitat that has been lost making them easier to run into, and the ease of communications getting the word out.

Yep...prior to the advent of the internet (Thanks Al Gore), big buck videos, big buck TV shows, celebrity hunters, chest thumping "mine is bigger than yours" bravado guys that killed big deer just hung the racks on the barn, used them for hat racks or made knife handles out of them. Think about it...if we did not have the internet who would even know about a 191" deer being killed in another part of the state? Who would even care?

What are the specs on that rifle? Nice looking rig. Either a Savage 212 or 220 slug gun.
