Very nice. I am going to get that rifle next. I got rid of my other 44s and regret it now. Figured the handi would be a addition without breaking the bank.

Not bad for a round that is about as aerodynamic as a flying brick.

That must be alot better group then I was able to get with the .44 handi-rifle I had. I tried several different types of ammo with pretty much the same result, shot all over the place. but I don't believe I tried any winchester 240 gr. Maybe thats where I went wrong. After hunting one season with it I gave up and went back to a slug gun. Glad its working for you though-

Good deal! I unfortunately had one of the other type of handis. It took me over 400 rds, of both factory and countless handloads to find something it liked. I jumped through all the normal handi hoops and did all the mods to no avail. I didn't get much better than a 3" group at 50 until I wearily stumbled onto a winning combination of H110 and 240 XTPs. It now shoots groups like yours, so I'm happy.

My handi rifle 44 is pretty darn accurate, haven't ever had an issue with its accuracy. One time on a deer my accuracy failed to succeed with it, but not the guns.

I suppose all production guns produce the occasional turd. However, I have heard more good stories about the handi-rifle than not. I think for the cash they are very hard to beat in most cases. I had heard that for a off-the-shelf gun they have a decent trigger as well. I want to get a .44....
For years the H&R shotguns were known in my circle as the most acccurate slug-guns you could get bar none. I know my Bull-Barreled 12 shot very well.
I think some of the criticism is from folks that are angry that a handi-rifle equals or even out-shoots their much pricier gun.
I have that scope... is that crisp or what? Worth the money.

I do not currently own a Handi ... but unless things have drastically changed I would not call their triggers decent.
I would not call them sufficient.
I would not call them tolerable.
I would call them the most god awful levers of ignition to ever serve that purpose.
But, that little problem is fixable.

Now the trigger on my H&R slug gun is better than most of my recently made guns. Of course that is not saying much with modern off the shelf guns. Interestingly, my Ithaca 22 mag, a hardware-store gun from the 60's, has an excellent trigger. So does my 1970's Ruger standard. All my older guns lack the creep and 90 lb pull of today's "lawyer guns."

I can handle a heavy pull .... but when you couple a heavy pull with creep it just irks me.
Been a long time since I owned a Handi ... maybe they got better??

My handi rifle came from the factory with a nice crisp 8.5 LBS! Did a trigger job and have it to a crisp 4 now. My sons has a very nice factory trigger at 3.75 with only the slightest amount of creep. I should have specified in my previous post that I somehow got an older Marlin made micro-groove barrel on mine with a bore of .4305. I'm sure that led to some of my headaches. They no longer make that barrel and use only ballard rifling. I don't want people to think that I'm bashing the rifle, just relaying my experience. I tend to tinker with all my rifles to get the most out of them, but this last handi was over the top tinkering just to get it to shoot decently (O-ring on forearm stud, hogging out forearm to freefloat it, constant cleaning and drying of latch shelf, trigger job, and 2 dozen different load recipes. I'm getting 1.75" groups at 100 yds with it now, but 3" @ 50 was the norm up until I found the load it liked. Oh, and now it only shoots to it's potential if the barrel is filthy.

Gotta claim ignorance here...I've got a handi .44 but I haven't heard anything about the "O-ring mod under the forearm mounting bolt". what is this? and also what's that Leupold scope go for?

Decatur did the right thing but I removed the trash and unlocked this post. Its getting a common place thing for members abusing each other and its time this behavior stops. If you guys dont stop then we will be setting some of you down for a while. h.h.

A couple of my buddies and myself include have the H&R and love them. No problems what so ever. We all ended up shooting the Hornady custom and they are tack drivers.
Curious as to what this oring mod is as well.

I have nothing but good things to say about the handirifle. Even though they are not a high dollar rifle they sure shoot like one. I had heard bad things about them but decided to give one a try anyway and am very satisfied. Mine shoots 1.5" at 100 yards and has done better than that a few times with Hornaday 240 grain XTP's. It's a great inexpensive deer dropper.
