It appears that next year crossbows will be a legal weapon for all of archery season. Lots of guys will be switching from vertical bows to crossbows and will be wanting to apply for park and military hunts but want to take the "Bowhunter Ed Class" to be able to apply.
My question is: will the state of Indiana make it a priority to have bow classes available for these crossbow hunters? Right now there isn't an "online" course for bow as there is for gun hunting. Any comments?

you dont need bow hunter ed for park or military why a crossbow ED. so I would say no,,, I guess I bit didnt I

The National Bowhunter Education Foundation has a sub set training that is about crossbows. They leave it to the instructor whether they want to teach that portion or not.
Some of the die hard instructors will never teach the crossbow portion as they do not see tham as "bows". The course is great in and of itself.
Throbak is correct in that it used to be that for state park archery hunts one had to have this course. That is no longer true.

Yes, the question was legit! I thought that Clifty Falls or something like that, required a bow hunter ed certificate to apply for the hunt. Now with crossbows I figure that the state would get serious about providing a course "on-line" like the gun course. It would be nice if they would provide it on-line. Thanks, BOBinIN

IIRC, the state doesn't provide the Bowhunter Ed courses. They are done by private instructors and cost to take.
