The only corn I have seen out is along 33 south of Chrubusco. It looks like it was cut for silage. There are a few fields that are drying out but more are still green. There is one field of beans that is dropping the leaves, the rest are still going strong.

They are picking the fields on HWY 64 in Gibson Co. Still looked somewhat green to me yet. Then again, I am color blind!

The wife and I went to Arthur, IL today and saw several fields of corn being shelled and a couple of bean fields that have been cut. The cornfields being worked were from Rockville all the way to Arthur. We drove US36 to the main drag into Arthur. The beans were cut around Rockville and Montezuma.

Saw my first field in Miami county being combined on Sat. I have seen a mixture of green fields and others that are well on their way to being ready, including a couple soybean fields. I think locally(my neighbors) most of ours will still be standing in early Oct.

I have seen a few picked, but it didn't look ready to me. It was still green. Must be a new corn version or something else!

didn't we do this last year about picking vs. shelling? Yes. I haven't seen anything around here that even looks close to being picked, but a guy I work with told me Friday they picked a field by him.

As long as we're talkin' pickin', shellin', cuttin', and combinin'... some of you (most likely the ole timers) will recognize this: My Grandpa taught me how to use this in the mid 60's on our farm near Kouts, Indiana (Malden to be exact). It started out to be fun and turned into work real quick. Kudos to the one who can tell me the brand and name of the "tool." Hint>>>look real close ;D
