The Central Indiana Chapter of the GPAA has an outing next weekend, June 17 and 18. This was set up as a Scout event, but we have had a higher cancellation rate than was expected.
We are opening this up to "kids" of all ages wanting to learn more about gold prospecting and enjoying a weekend in nature.
I realize this is very short notice, but if anyone would like to join us and bring the kids or grandkids we would love to have you.
This outing is in Greensburg, Decatur County, if you need to check travel distance. It is on private property, primitive camping (limited small camper space), with firewood and port-o-lets, so the only cost is travel and food. Remember lots of fluids because of the heat, but no alcohol during the event times and no firearms at all on the property. Prospecting supplies have been provided for up to 50 youth participants, so the kids get will have equipment to take home. Also, participants WILL GET WET, so remember to bring extra dry clothes and shoes.
If anybody is interested, please email me at BSATroop571@yahoo.com. This email is synced to my phone and I have no idea how often I will be able to check this site over the coming week.
I almost forgot to mention, participants get to keep all the gold they find.

We had a great time this weekend. We didn't have the turn out we were expecting from the kids, but the GPAA guys were there in force. We had guys from Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Illinois, Wisconsin, and a license plate from Alaska was spotted. After a little investigation, it was discovered the man lives in Ft. Wayne now.
Troy McCormick from Indiana Outdoor Adventures Television was there with his father to film the event for season three of their show that starts in August. If you get the opportunity to watch this show, take it. They are a fun and entertaining group of guys.
The GPAA folks were happy enough with their finds that they have asked to have their August outing on the same property. It won't be a Scout event, but if anyone is interested, they can join in.

I honestly have no idea. I heard reports from two guys that said they got more in two hours than they did the entire week prior at another location. I do know most everybody did not get the chance to do their final clean-up. I saw a few "grain of rice" sized pieces, and all the Scouts got found some to take home.
I have asked the GPAA folks to send pictures to the film crew for the show. If I can get my hands on them I'll try to get them posted.
I am told the show should air in October,

The Central Indiana GPAA is having their August outing (Aug 19,20,21) on this same property. The Scouts won't be there this time around and the guys are thilled about getting the entire weekend to concentrate on the prospecting.
If anybody is interested in coming and learning more about the club, prospecting, or doing some prospecting, P.M. me and I'll pass along the information and directions.
