After dealing with rain and lightning for the youth hunt the forecast doesn't look much better for opening day. I can deal wih rain but do not like lightning when I am a long way from the car. I was planning on taking Wed and Thurs off. I think I am going to instead take Thurs. and Fri. off. Anybody else thinking about skipping out. If I was hunting near home it wouldn't be as much of a problem but I will be 3 hours from home.

I will be in the blind drinking coffee and trying to keep dry!! Me too. That is one thing I like about blind hunting. Drink cofee, eat a few doughnuts, read the paper, magazine, text momma, text Woodmaster, etc, etc.. Oh, yeah...maybe call every 15 minutes or so.. 80% chance of rain down here in Warrick county..

I have been watching a group of turkeys for several months now from approx. 3/8+ of a mile away. Mother Nature shut the rain off for a few hours this afternoon giving me the chance to set up my blind and look over the property for the very first time. While I was wrestling with the blind I looked and 2 toms walked out of the woods about 200 yards away. Opening day come rain or shine I will also be in my blind eating donuts, drinking coffee and hoping. LIFE IS GOOD.

I would have to quit hunting by 9am to go to work, thats about the time the turkeys start heating up, with the weather forcast I'll probably miss opening day. If so it willbe the first in 22 years. Thats ok though, there is a lot of time.

Won't make it out till Friday because of Prior commitments but really looking forward to it, going after them with archery only gear, no gun this year, so its going to be a memorable time either way. Good luck to all, looking forward to reading the stories and seein pics.

I set up my blind this afternoon and double tied it down. We are suppose to get strong thunderstorms tonight so I hope its still there in the morning. I put it up today so I wouldn't have to do it in the morning in the rain. I'm sitting back in my chair and ambushing anything with a beard that comes my way, that is if the turkeys come off the roost. h.h.

I'll be setting the double bull up in the am. The only thing that worries me now is the wind. First they said 10 to 15mph now it's 20 to 30mph. If that's the case it's gonna be tuff flinging arrows at anything over twenty yards. Good luck to all that make it out.

I'm gonna check the radar early in the a.m. and make a decision then. As of right now, I'm loaded up, pumped up and ready to bust a Tom! Good luck to all!
