By some good cancer insurance, you'll need it. Every smoker in my family eventually died a horrible suffering death from lung cancer..check it out sometime , hospital is full of em...it'll rip your heart out...your family are the ones who pay, they have to watch, and live with the suffering, you eventually die. .........I personally not as worried about any type of scent during the rut as i am during the rest of the season. Bucks only have one thing on their mind ........ What about the does in the woods? They have busted many a hunter and saved a lot of bucks during the rut. If a buck is cruising during the rut don't you think he will smell smoke. I don't like taking chances no matter what time of the year it is.

I don't mind people who smoke as long as they are not in my stand! ;D I often wondered when you are having a heart attack and riding in the back of an ambulance on the way to the emergency room why the EMT doesn't ask you if want a cigarette, while they shock your heart? h.h.

Amazing how many folks "think" they will live a long life since they don't smoke. And when they do kick the bucket, its gonna be piecefully, and not affect their loved ones.

That being said, in my experience, during the rut, a buck could care less about the smell of anything, unless it has dripped out of a doe's back side.

I havent smoked for a couple years but I always smoked while hunting. Like others I killed several with one lit, even w a bow from the ground. I still dip and spit from the stand and havent noticed any difference in sightings from the couple years I was die hard scent free, antismoking, etc.,

AGREED LUGNUTZ..i had a feeling this would push that button of smoking, thats why i posted it the way i did..thought i would ween that off, but guess not. this site is a GREAT discusion board and thats why i posted it and have been blown away by the answers to my question. WE{SMOKERS} all know we should quit, comeon, and also should drink more water, dont eat fast food, no pop, exercise daily, sleep 8 hours, drink milk, lift with your legs, not with your back..i could go on and on..but reality and living your own life kicks in. didnt want this post to go to this. FYI...ciggs get taxed 300 percent..i THINK OUR goverment likes that money? if it was removed, were would the billions come from? all im saying.. thank you to all who posted. still very shocked about smoking in stand..

Deer do not see smoke as a panic odor to put it as simply as possible.

Wow hh I didn't know that only smokers have heart attacks and get to ride in the ambulance. There's another reason to keep smoking.

I really don't care who smokes or doesn't. When you get to my age and have seen friends die early from tobacco products they used most of their lives you kind of get the picture of what it does to your body. All I say is enjoy them while you can. h.h.

Deer do not see smoke as a panic odor to put it as simply as possible. IMO.........ANY foreign smell could alert deer. Plus I wouldn't want the extra movement and noise. I'm not going to debate if a person should smoke or not. We all know what the facts are.
