to all smokers, what do u do b4 going out?

Yeah, If your in a space suit put on in a clean room, a buck will smell you if he is in the right spot.

I just think its all in what you believe in. I smoke. Smoked im my truck all the way to my hunting spot one evening last fall and shot a 9 pointer at 10 yards with my bow. A friend of my had a cigarette in his hand last gun season and noticed a deer coming in. Put it out on a log and shot and the deer ending up net score 157. Long story short, i enjoy the outdoors and unfortunately im a smoker so i just do what i do and dont worry about it.

I don't smoke but I have never been one to worry about foreign smells, even with poor wind direction.

However I take body odor totally different.

I quit long ago, but when I used to smoke, I smoked on stand occasionally. There is not a better way to monitor wind currents than the smoke wafting from a lit ciggy! ;D

IMO ciggy smoke is not the deer spooker it is made out to be. Guess what.....if the deer can smell your smoke he can damn sure smell you. Is the deer spooking from the smoke or you? Does it matter??

A couple years back I would hunt after working manual construction and smoking all day. No shower, just camo up and head out with particular attention played to wind. I killed just as many deer then as I do now taking all the scent precautions.

Haven't smoked for many years but never saw where it bothered the deer. Now this morning I am playing the wind, got a doe and fawn coming in upwind when a little breeze comes from them to me and she imedeately starts snorting. Danged swirling wind and the were down hill from me as well.

By some good cancer insurance, you'll need it. Every smoker in my family eventually died a horrible suffering death from lung cancer..check it out sometime , hospital is full of em...it'll rip your heart out...your family are the ones who pay, they have to watch, and live with the suffering, you eventually die.

Smoking is definately a RISK, IMHO........but Ive put more cigarettes out to take a shot than I can remember. Gun, Bow, on the ground and in a tree.

I smoke with my hand next to my head and put the butts in a air tight plastic cup I carry. Do I spook deer......Im sure I do.

However, this AM I had one dink buck cross 20 yards upwind and a coyote and another dink buck cross downwind at less than 50 yards. Neither even hesitated. Mornings like this were temps are going to raise 30 degrees, up thermals do their job.

Ive thrown butts at bambi to get them to leave so I can relax a bit. More often than not they sniff it and look at it awhile and amble off. One of them ATE it.......no joke.

I TRY to not smoke a LOT in my stand but smoke I will until I get rich and famous and can afford something to help me quit.(yes I know the cigarettes cost more).

For ME, it hasn't been successful OR easy to try to quit but Ill git - r - done...

My buddy has fits when he sees what I get by with. I dont have an explanation but do know I hunt for fun and relaxation and it is NOT fun NOR relaxing sitting there with a splitting head ache.
