I was out hunting for just about anything i could hunt with my trusty mossberg 500 12 ga., when i came across a buck i call sticker, after looking over him i noticed that he had fighting wounds, i have to wait until saturday for a CO to come look at him so i can get his antlers, i do know that sticker is 6 1/2 as of this year, but slowly any areas that had water are now dry, and the bucks are fighting till the death never seen deer get this violent, if we don't get rain soon i fear the deer will kill more of themselves faster than we can.

Yes and with it being so dry there is no "magic mud" for them to heal themselves in. Our deer herd is doomed for sure!

Feeling blessed for sure from the posts I see on it being so dry.
80 acres and I have two running streams still flowing, one 6 inches deep, foot wide, one 2 feet deep or deeper and 8 feet wide. Was watching the small one but think it feeds from the big one on the next property.
Knew it was dry but OUCH.
God Bless

Isn't it Oct 22? I think the deer are doing what they do naturally this time of year and fighting over water doesn't have a thing to do with it.

Sounds like a case of alien abduction to me.
The deer that is... ;

Death comes easy to mother natures beast, the truth is deer do kill each other every year while rutting. Some from fignt wounds but mostly from getting run down by the need to procreate. Most bucks don't reach the ripe old age of 6-7 around here because of the desire of humans to kill them along with coyotes and rutting behavior.

i do have a couple small bucks that are a might bit jumpy, had a squirrel spooke both as he were heading for a drink, was kinda funny at least i know they will survive one is a five point and the other a three, the ditch be hind thhouse has a few pools of water, we need about 3-4 inches of rain, but anyway can't wait for gun season so i can put the crosshairs on that drop tine i have been seeing, just hope he doesn't get bump off by another buck himself. I will post pics of sticker once the CO ok's everything, just kinda sad seeing a buck like him going that way, but that's nature.

Is the drop tine an offspring of "The Ghost of the Tamaracs"
