Great....give the xbow a season. No compounds. Just crossbows. Wouldn't want to corrupt anyone.

I think we should have a September crossbow only season (while the bucks are in velvet). Maybe the state can accomplish its goal of deer reduction. The fact of the matter is any compound is a much better weapon for killing game than any crossbow. Crossbow are cumbersome and rarely would you be able to get a second shot on a missed animal, unlike a compound.

Let's have a three year trial period and just flip the season situation we have now....

> Negotiated was the ISR stance on support for the opening of a gun season from Christmas to New Year. Guidelines for this dealt with support only if the current proposal of reducing the November firearm season was part of the go forward package (From 16 to 9 days). Without the reduction in the firearm season, there was not seen any reason to support this.
> The Members present voted to not support the October early anterless season if the firearms season is left at the existing 16 day length. There was considerable opposition to the October antlerless season during the recent rounds of public meetings which the ISR held, owing to the belief that most areas of the state are not inundated with an over-abundance of deer.
Looks like the stakeholders are not letting go of their desire to shorten and move the gun season. Now they are telling the DNR and NRC that they wont support the antlerless season if the DNR and NRC keep the gun season as it is. Riddle me this - On another site this same individual has stated that having the gun season as it is now and adding in the two antlerless seasons could be "going too far and too fast". ? This is the same individual that praised and supported the original DNR proposals of shortening and moving the guns seasons in an attempt to kill MORE deer. Now leaving the gun season as is and adding the antlerless season could be "going too far and too fast". This exposes the stakeholder's desire to shorten and move gun season for one reason only and that is not population control, it is growing big bucks for bowhunters.

Woody you don't even consider crossbows a bow!!! Not sure how you got that.. You wouldn't have a crossbow section. You have a bow section and a crossbow section. You dont have a rifle or shotgun section. hmmmmm

Not sure how you got that.. You wouldn't have a crossbow section. You have a bow section and a crossbow section. You dont have a rifle or shotgun section. hmmmmm The reasoning behind that is I did not want to muck up any section with constant sniping from people, saying "it is not a bow". I wanted a place where people that use crossbows have a place to talk crossbows without the naysayers getting in their misguided two cents worth. Thus teh warning at the top. Sorry that you donlt understand that and want to make something out of it.
