Thought it would be interesting to see what everyone called their birds in with. I used the same slate call for all 3 of my birds this year. Barely even used a mouth call or box call this year.

I used a slate some-it`s the `ol Yeller by Knight and Hale, but I mostly used the H S Strut diaphram I worked with most of the winter. I`m not a champion caller for sure, but I can make it work.

I used a Cody glass call the first couple of days out but actually bagged my bird with a mouth diaphragm. Like gobblerspur I usually just use the mouth call for in close stuff but this time the birds were cutting me off with their gobbling every time I let a stream of yelps and cackles go,Iwas surprised because generally they run the other way.

Used a push-button call. My slate fell out of my pocket on my way to get set-up. LOL. It worked though - #22, 11.25" beard & 32mm spurs.

Mouth call by Primos. Mainly the Piggy-back series.

Use The Freak with Frictionite I think it is by Primos. Thing sounds reeeal nice and the birds seemed to have liked it too! It was nice to be able to have the gun up and have that slate strapped to my leg and still purr a little while he came in.

Not sure what all Dad was using when he was calling for me. I'm sure he was using one or both of his box calls and possibly a slate/crystal call. He has yet to figure out the diaphrams. ;D
When I was calling "tandem" with him on Saturday, I was using my Primos box call and my new M.A.D Heavy Metal crystal. That MAD call is LOUD!

I called my Alabama bird in with my glass call and a Hook's mouth call. Devastator I believe. The guy I was hunting with used an aluminum call that he got from me also.
The only other bird I have seen shot this season came into a Hook's mouth call with 3 other gobblers.
I made the glass call that I use I made in April of 2003. I figured the other day that it has called in close to 60 longbeards with 23-24 of them being shot.

I've killed 3 with a mouth call and one with a cody glass. If the birds are really weary I like to use the glass to get really soft on. hw

I had three birds get shot under the sweet sounds of the primos power crystal. This thing will flat out scream when you need it , or be soft for stroken em in the last few steps. I carried five different pot syle calls and this one did the trick .

I take all three to the field with me. Box, slate, and diaphram calls. I probably use the diaphram more than the other two combined.

Poor Valley bench made double sided glass and slate. They really like that slate. All 4 birds I've been a part of taking this year came to it.

I used a Blodgett slate for my Kentucky bird. Also called in a bird for a friend in Michigan yesterday using the Primos Power Crystal.
