or How to turn that old compound into a new trad bow... its called WARFing. Some old compound risers make perfect recurves. SOME...not all. For this project I am using a PSE Silverhawk compound that wa givin to me. (aint much use for 44" compounds anymore, if you cant get it free you can sure get it cheap. 10-20 dollars usually). Step one is gettin all that junk off it Easy enough, just start backing out the limb bolts. The cables will go slack long before the bolts are out.

ILF limbs come in 3 lengths, short med and long. On this particular riser those will give me AMO bow lengths of 62,64 and 66 inches

heres the limb pocket of the silverhawk and plate and a dry fitting. The plates were designed for a Martin riser and I had to have them milled down .065mil per side. A friend at work in the tool room done it for me. Now I need to get some limbs, mount them and check alignment. Then I will rough up the contact points in limb pockets and bottom of plates and jb weld them in place. Will also wgt the lower pocket before assembly (this is gonna be a target rig)

that will give me an ILF riser that can use any of hundreds availalable limbs, both recurve and longbow complete with tiller adjustability and wgt adjustability. tuneable to the nth degree

Very cool. Thanks for the warf-a-long. Are you keeping the riser that color? It would be easy to camo dip.

That's pretty cool! Now you have a take-down recurve with a cut-away riser, and the price was right! Can't wait to hear how it shoots!
