What you need is a cardboard box a stick a string and some bait, first you prop the box on the stick then..........................seriously I don't know how to trap them.

Oh we could tell you the easiest way, but then Buster may come and pay us all a visit!!!!!!! ;D LOL After a snow like this, you can catch more rabbits in one night than you could shoot in a whole weeks worth of hunting.

I know I once used salt on my coyote traps to keep them from freezing...rabbits love salt and will find it no matter what, that's when I switched to peat moss to prevent trap freeze up...couldn;t keep the rabbit's from setting my traps off with salt...if there's salt a rabbit WILL find it...That's all I gotta say bout that..

When we lived back east my dad used to box trap them all the time. He was mainly after the Snowshoe Hares but caught many Cottontails too. He tried many baits but always found a 1/2 apple to work the best.

A box trap is basically a wire cage that has a door that drops down on one or sometimes both ends of the cage when an animal steps on the trigger inside. Once caught inside it will be up to you to finish them off. The one I have only has one door, you put bait in the back and set the door trigger. Tractor supply, Big R or possibly Rural King carries them.

Rabbits are not as easy to trap as you might think.
If you want to snare them you will need very thin cable an small loop
Box traps will work but not great , they shey from going into them you might catch a few with fresh greens as bait but it won't be like catching blue gills on a nice spring day
a bodygrip trap will be your best bet , it will kill them , you can use them in the trails the problem you will have is these traps have no way of know if the animal is a domestic animal or wild animal an it will kill either one
so my advice is , unless you are 100% certain there are no domestic animlas running around the area you will be trapping than DO NOT use the bodygrip traps

About an inch from the ground, in a funnel in a well used trail, with a loop about the size of a softball.

At LEAST once a day! You need written permission to use snares from the landowner btw. And I assume you know season went out last Monday?
