Exactly wrong! EHD performed the deer management we wouldn't or couldn't. To intentionally promote a rapid population increase only increases the likelihood of the next outbreak being just as severe. Kneejerk reactions like these do nothing positive for deer management. Correct, as proven by the 2007 deer harvest report pg. 11. Harvest levels in counties hardest hit by EHD in 2006, had 2007 harvest levels close to 2005 numbers. The EHD counties mentioned in this year's EHD report certainly took a hit. Pike took a big time hit. Numbers are in total deer.Crawford2005 – 1634 2006 – 1921 2007 – 1538 ( - 383) Daviess 2005 – 1465 2006 – 1485 2007 - 1184 ( - 301) Dubois2005 – 1879 2006 – 1917 2007 – 1599 ( - 318) Perry2005 - 2098 2006 – 2297 2007 – 1779 ( - 518) Pike 2005 – 1954 2006 – 2042 2007 – 1334 ( - 708)Spencer2005 – 1612 2006 – 1604 2007 – 1251 ( - 353) Warrick2005 – 1540 2006 – 1611 2007 – 1325 ( - 286)

I wonder how many bonus antlerless tags will be allowed in those hard hit counties next year?

I wonder how many bonus antlerless tags will be allowed in those hard hit counties next year? The counties that were hard hit in 2006 had less bonus permits the next year - 2007. Warrick just went to a 4, so I'm not sure what will happen there.

The CO did confirm that we had a few cases in Henry County but it must be light so far. I just have not heard anyone in the area finding dead deer. I also hunt Jackson County and so far it seems to have only slight impact there.

I heard that if your area has an outbreak one year that the herd will become imune to EHD for a few years after is this correct?
