I have walked out into a marsh that we just flushed ducks out of and I can smell them. It smells like warm Fat.

Yes, I do sometimes get a whiff of them. In NH where there are moose, sometimes it's like walking into a horse barn. It's simialr with deer but nowhere near as strong.
When I smell deer, or even think I do, I put the brakes on and really look hard for them.

I can barely see them let alone smell them. The next time I have one lying on the ground at my feet I will give it a good sniffing to find out if it smells. I believe I will stay away from the hind end though.

They smell... even on the hoof. Although they think we stink too. LOL... they always snort when they smell me anyway!!

Smelled many 'rutty' bucks in the woods, but like others have said I've never used it to my advantage. Usually it's smelling them walking to or from the stand. Same for me as well.

I smelled them walking into the woods at least twice this year. I think it depends on how clear my sinuses are and the number of deer that crossed. I have never smelled them up in a treestand. Once my buddy smelled them also.
