Great photos. Thank you for sharing them. Please keep us informed on the poachers fines. We all know they wont be enough. Sad thing is this great animal will only have the same value as a small doe.

Gentlemen, I am posting a link below where you can go to see all the trail cam pictures I had of the buck we are talking about here. There are a couple of pictures of another buck but he's pretty nice also. I have added one picture (1121091211AM) in the group that I would be interested in hearing from some of you as to what you think it is. It's not a very good picture and whatever it is it's body is behind the stump. All I can make out is it has a very long dark tail and is dark up it's back. I believe it's to big to be a house cat (tail is way to long). The stump is about 14 inches tall with about one-quarter of a mineral block left on top of the stump. Here is the link, I look forward to your replys. s962.photobucket.com/albums/ae106/DeepWoodsScouter/Buck%20Pictures/

Is it a house cat half way up on the stump?

Gentlemen, To update you on this story the young man has gone to court. He was offered 60 days in jail susspended, $500.00 in fines, loss of the gun, 40 hours of community service, and one year of probation. To the best of my knowledge he has not taken the plea offer and is considring going to trial. $300.00 of the $500.00 fine is to pay for the mounting of the deer. I'll update this again when I know how this finally shakes out.

Gentlemen, This one is over the young man took a second plea agreement offer. He paid a $290 fine, $300 to pay for the mounting of the Buck, if he stays out of any trouble for a period of one year he will get his gun back and everything will disappear from his record.
Also just to let you know I am getting trail cam pictures of a couple of bucks that have to be the offspring from this big buck, Very Nice.

He should have did at least 6 months behind bars and lost his hunting privileges for 10 years and I can't believe if he stays clean for a year he will get the weapon back he killed this deer with. He should always have a record for poaching. This is pathetic. I thought it was a mandatory fine of 500.00 for poaching whitetails in IN. Hell no wander poaching's a problem in Indiana. The deer hunting rule changes are not the only thing that need to be discussed on the 20 at Fort Harrison.

Booner1331, I have to be honest, I put feed in front of the trail cameras to get more pictures of all the animals in the woods, NOT just the deer! I started doing that last year and I still do it today. I don't and never did do it to hunt over. I know a lot of people will not believe that but it is the truth. I misunderstood the fair chase law and when a young man was fined for hunting to close to one of my camera sights last year I stopped all hunting in the woods in question for last year. Because I am the one that misunderstood the law I went to court with the young man and talked to the court about his being there being my fault. He recieved a $290.00 fine and one year probation. I paid the young mans fine and I told the court I would be doing that. Because I misunderstood the law and the damage it caused I never took a Bow or Gun out of the house last year. I did my hunting with trail cameras only and I enjoyed it. I will be removing everything from the camera sites long before the season starts this year and have already talked to the CO about coming out and going over this woods with a fine toothed comb and if there is a problem I will fix it before the two week period prior to the start of the season. I hope this explains why I didn't hunt the big buck last year, and I hope the way I handled it make amends for my misunderstanding the law.

Sounds like you're a stand up guy that made a mistake, and offered to take his lumps. Kudos to ya!

Really surprised to see its not in velvet.
What bothers me most about this is, if the kid shoots a doe, nobody makes a big deal about it.
