Bought one of those new Colt AR-15 look alike .22 rimfire rifles this morning. Can't get the dang thing to cycle 10 rounds in a row. It either short cycles and jams, or fires on the bullet putting a very slight dent in the casing, but not firing it.
Tried about four different kinds of ammo, lubricated and cleaned the heck out of things, and she still aint working. Going to have a gunsmith take a look at it tomorrow. If he can't fix it pretty simply, it's getting returned.
Any ideas?

I have no experience with those.... However, I have a Marlin Model 60 that will not cycle high velocity ammo and I have to use standard velocity in it. You tried different brands/kinds, but did you try different speeds? I doubt that's the issue, but it's worth a shot. Standard velocity will tend to be more accurate anyway, especially at longer distances.

Some .22 ammo has a waxy coating (lead round nose usually) on it that doesn't cycle well in semi autos. This was the cause of some problems yesterday with a friend's .22 rimfire upper. That wouldn't explain the weak pin though.

Is it hollow point ammo? I had a semi-auto 22 that sometimes hung up on hollow points but worked great otherwise. Maybe trying a different brand might help? You probably did that....
Good luck!

I would just take it back and not waste money on the gunsmith if I just bought it. Good luck.

The reviews on these have been mixed -- an airsoft company made them, and Colt just put their name on them. Someone mentioned in the following thread that there is an allen key adjustment for various ammo types: www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=3&f=15&t=447042Good luck.
