With a rifled barrel and quality saboted slugs, it is hard to beat the accuracy of a shotgun slug out to 100 yards. IMO, ANY other type gun could beat that accuracy you're getting with the shotgun.

and once you load them, you have to fire them. On my Encore I just pop out the breech with the load in it and run the ramrod down and WAH-LAH ;D During hunting season when I'm doing occasional cleanings it takes me less than 10 minutes. At the end of the season I'll do a total breakdown cleaning. I bought my first ML about 10 years ago and put the shotgun in case and never looked back ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png)

I agree Woody, but if a guy wants ONE good gun for deer hunting, it has to be a muzzleloader! Yeah... though I may just go and throw another wrench into the mix... If your Shotty is a Mossberg 500, you can get a ML barrel for it for a lot less than starting over. The Mossy 500 209 ML barrel works great. If you like TCs, get one that will double (triple?) as a PCR/Varmint/ML... Me? I'm a paranoid Gun Crank, so I have a .357 Levergun/PCR as a Homeland Defense/Hunting Rifle, a M500 with all accessory barrels (rifled, smooth, riot & ML) AND a flintlock... plus a Buckhunter Pistol for good measure. ;D

For the price of the Savage ML series, your gonna drop $500 easily. For a decked out CVA will run you around $300, with the extra $200 cash you can buy a nice pair of optics to sit on top of it! The first time you forget to clean the CVA, though, you'll be wishing you spent the extra $$$ on the Savage! If you are a clean-gun freak like some, get a regular muzzy. However, if you are like me and can't remember the last time certain guns were cleaned (if you ever have cleaned them! ![:o](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/shocked.png) ) then get a Savage! ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png)
