Took my fifteen year old daughter out this past Friday and within ten minutes called in a flock and she killed a gobbler. She has filled both her tags this year and is flying high.

Reference the whole story: After seeing where a flock had worked through and was leaving sign, we cut some limbs and took position under a cedar tree. One series of lost calls and the birds were on us. She picked out a gobbler and nailed him at 36 yards with her Remington Special Field .20 guage with some custom handloads courtesy of her papaw. This is the fourth bird she has killed. Her bird from this past spring was 23 lbs. and had two ten inch beards and is being mounted in full strut.

Killed my first fall gobbler opening morning (10-15). I must admit, it's not as fun as spring hunting, but it's another opportunity to harvest a second bird. This is the first year for a fall gun season here in Parke County. I'm pretty sure this is the first LEGAL fall bird taken with a gun in Parke County, unless another person killed a longbeard earlier than 9am on the opener and checked it in another county. I've checked all the local check stations. Pretty cool 18 lbs. 11 1/4" beard 1 1/4" hooks
