I was just wondering how a true hunter/gun owner can justify voting democrat? I mean most people would say that it is not wise to make a choice based on one issue. But I love hunting so much I would rather take a hit on any other issue than chance losing my hunting rights one day or maybe my kids not having the opportunity to do so . How bout you ?

I feel much the same way but it all boils down to what the issues are for you. McCain is in alingnment with a whole lot more issues than Obama to get my vote. But if I had other issues that McCain and I didn't see eye to eye on I can't say I would vote for him. In this case McCain gets my vote in 4 years I'll make the decision the same way i.e. wich one is headed in the direction I want to go. I usually vote republican for Pres but if I felt the other guy was a better candidate I'd vote the way that is inline with my situation.

Take a look at the governor of Montana. For a Dem he aint bad.
Regardless of what the dems would do nature demands it be taken seriously. The deer tick/lime disease here has opened some minds. Some have said they'll just call in snipers, I don't think even the snipers would want to let bullets fly here in flat N.W. Ohio. The bow hunter has already been deemed the answer in heavily democratic Lucas county.

NoDog- Several years ago, there was a bait and shoot held in one of the eastern states. They brought in snipers from several different swat teams thru out the state. Some one videoed it. Snipers being competitive turned it into a call your shots. Lots of front knees shot out, back legs shot out etc befor animal was finally killed. While I personally did not see this video my son in law that was living there then did and he said it was horrible. Professional shooters took a hard hit in the eyes of the public because of this. Bow hunting is usually the first step in trying to eradicate this problem because it has been deemed safer by the anti firearms groups. But hey any form of hunting is better than none at all.
These days being a hunter makes it hard to be a demoncrat due to their anti firearms agenda.

I think most are like two coworkers I have. "Dad was a Democrat back in nineteen-hunnert whatever, and I am too, dad-gummit."
Both of the men I know own piles of guns, live a conservative lifestyle, Hunt, fish, etc. They consistently ignore the fact that Democrats cast votes agin' em all the time.

I'd be willing to bet that 95% of all members of anti-gun groups are Dems......

While I love beating on and debating liberals on a daily basis in various message boards and at work, you can't lump someone who's a democrat in with the far left liberals all the time.
There are dems who are molded in the party of JFK, not what the far-left has sent with Obama. I know a few, albeit not many, actual Iraq/Afghan combat vets that are dems. I know others that are union folks that are dems that don't agree with much of the far-left agenda. Many probably don't realize that Toby Keith is a democrat.
Yes, I'm a conservative veteran, but I don't put myself in the far right crowd of holier than thou do gooders. I could care less if someone's gay, it doesn't effect me.
We seem to get so caught up in labels and parties that we forget what's best for this country. I'd personally endorse a "middle of the road" party for those of us who sit in the middle on most issues.

Sad but true, republicans led and won one of the most recent hunting bans. Started in the local level and was openly supported by Speaker of the House Bosma. I won't soon forget this.

[/quote To what bill do you refer? I'd like to know about it. The biggest hunting restriction I can think of that receives bi-partisan support is the dreaded OBR. (yes, people, it is a hunting restriction, no matter if you support it or not) The vast majority of anti-gun & anti-hunting schemes that gain any support are supported by Democrats. If you don't know that, you must not read the news. I do not wave the flag of any party, but this destinction between the two on this issue could not be more obvious.

Marion County side Geist hunting ban. Like I said it was a local push led by a Republican and openly supported by Brian Bosma at the time Republican Speaker of the House. Not much different then what Democrat Fry is attempting to do, but the republicans succeeded!!!
Look at money and votes, that is the only thing either party works for.

I would think anyone who thinks along these lines and still votes for the liberal candidates of today is caught up in his or her "Democratic" label...

Does that mean if we vote for McCain that we support amnesty for illegal aliens? I certainly don't. That's the problem with only having two major parties, there is no room from conservative Dems or moderate Repubs anymore.
