Its that time again.. That little female flower is blossoming again... I think this is her 5th time.. Who can count? My question is,, is there a easier way around this? I'm not really interested in pups yet,, maybe somewhere down the road.. Was almost gonna let her have some last Jan,, but I couldnt bring myself to let my little girl get violated.. Did I say that? I've thought about getting her fixed,, but that seems to change dogs... This is my first lab,, but I have another female thats fixed,, and she hardly gets off the floor.. I really like having a female,, and I think we get along good cause of this..I've even spent $30 on dog panties and her female things,, but its hard to get her to keep them on.. Can you picture me trying to get these on her? Who else has a female?? And how do you go about this? What are the preference's,, fixing or not fixing?

Fixed, all mine get fixed (male & female) as soon as the vet will do it. I have a 11 year old female and a 2 year old male and they are ready to go at the snap of my fingers. If I wan't another pup I go buy one.

She is a PWB dog,, I bought her for $200 from a guy who doesnt hunt or train or anything... He just had a male and female lab to keep each other company.. Nothing special,, just plain old barn dogs..

Pigeon, My yellow male (OFA Excellent,CERF Clear) sired 9 pups, and my yellow female (OFA Good, CERF Clear) had a litter of 5 before I had them fixed (allot of work, responsibility, stress, risk, and cost...) Lesson learned..., leave the breeding to well versed, experienced, and responsible breeders. With Labs theirs already plenty of them out there... Once the male had a taste of "hmmm..." he turned in to a Tasmanian devil, and the female was anything but a good mother... Once everybody was fixed life got a whole lot better on many levels ;D ;D ;D

I don't mean to ruffle feathers, but there are WAY TOO MANY "barn breeders" out there. They are ruining many a good breed of dog. Look at Irish Setters, Cocker Spaniels (yup, they were origianlly hunting dogs), etc etc. Labs are unfortunatly approaching being messed up, as a breed whole due to irresponsible breeding practices. NEVER breed labs that aren't OFA good or better, and CERF clear. The EIC testing is quicking approching necessary also.

Lots of Amish are getting into Mega-Breeding up north. Heard a few pet stores are taking advantage of the low prices but then the buyers have to deal with all the problems like kennel cough, low birth rates, hip and stomach problems. I have seen the traveling doggie trucks in action. It's a shame.

I've seen news reports on that... Doesn't' make sense though if their way of life is to uphold a higher standard of morals... Different outlook on animals & pets versus live stock I guess. But then again, either way, you would think that both would prosper from healthy breeding practices...

Hold the phone here guys,, I'm not talking about getting her fixed,, just so we will rid the world of "good ol barn dogs".. Pups are the last thing on my mind.. I am speaking more along the lines of,, how would this affect her attitude and such.. If she saw me even walk in the direction of the gun safe,, would she still have that look in her eye?
Another thing you guys are missing is,, if there was not these cheap $$ barn dogs out there,,, some of us would not have a dog....... I dont think I could have gotten a better dog by spending 4 times more $$ on one...
