Howdy, my profile name is K8bor (ham call sign) but my name is Dave.
Getting within a few years of retirement, but still working.
Favorites are fishing, reloading, shooting and hunting. Not necessarily in that order. Anymore I can't tell whether I reload so I can shoot more, or shoot so I can reload more. I also cast my own bullets. I have a special interest in leverguns and own a number of them.
This year I'm on a mission to shoot open sights well again. I'm a Marine Corps Viet Nam vet, so I learned how to shoot the right way back when, but like everyone else, you give into ease and shoot everything with scopes. Scopes definitely have their place, but up here in Michigan my shots are never over 75 yards, and scopes just wreck the lines and balance of the lever guns.
I've found I call still hit dinner plates at 100 yards with aperture sights, so I think I may hunt deer that way this year.
I have an absolutely wonderful sister-in-law that lives in the Mishawaka area, which is my primary source of visitation to your state. I find your forums interesting reading for a long time now, and just thought I might add my $.02 worth from time to time if it's OK.

Welcome. This is the place to be if you want to talk about Indiana hunting. I think there will be quite few open sighters hunting with those lever guns this fall. Post away. We enjoy reading posts from other states.

Welcome to the board. I've been to Grayling believe it or not. Unfortunately I didn't have time to wet a line in the Au Sable.

Howdy, my profile name is K8bor (ham call sign) but my name is Dave. Ah yes, I am familiar with ham radio...my father has been a ham radio operator for many years (apparently he has the highest license you can get), and my brother (now an electrical and computer engineer) got his license as a senior in high school when he did an independent project on the importance of ham radio. When I was born, my dad moved my crib into the ham radio room, which also was the nursery...or that's how the story goes anyways! Welcome, welcome, welcome and glad to have you on board! ;D
