I've spent a lot of time sitting in tree stands watching the woods change colors, loose it leaves, squirrels run around. Gotten lucky a few times too. Experiance? Lets see I can tell you about useing Baker tree stands. I believe that they were one of the first climbers and at that time we all thought that they were great. I had one that must have been 30 inches wide and 40 inches long (the platform), dog gone heavy 3/4 inch ply. But dog gone it once you got up you had plenty of room. The seats were at least 20 inches wide and maybe 8 to 10 deep. Also 3/4 ply. I put foam and wrapped it with carpet for padding. Actually made a pretty good seat. As for the stand up sit down climbing well I have tried, Loggy Bayou, Summits, now Lone Wolf and it actually was easier to use than the Summit. The Lone Wolf comes the closest as to ease of climbing. None had the room of that old puppy though. Course they do not weigh near as much either. I can remember useing a front bead and shooting pumpkin balls thru a smooth bore and hopeing even after practising that I could safely hit one under 50 yrds. Todays firearms are so much better. Rifled barrels, sabot slugs, rifle sites and scopes. I am not even going to say to much about MLs. Just accept that todays are much much better. As for my knife well I still carry and use my Uncle Henry Golden Spike That I bought in the late 70's, 78 or 9.

How about the chest bruises & palm blisters from hugging the trees to climb. Welcome aboard. Glad to have you.

I bought their seat climber, it came in two forms, one an aluminum bar that you did chin ups with and could sit on if you wanted or the hanging seat as I described earlier. I used it to climb with but I liked to wrap my arms around the tree and slid down like a firemans pole. But I also had enginerred the bungey cord that went over your feet to be pulled tight against my ankles so that the platform did not fall off. I also carried a tie type thing that I put around the tree and V-bar so that the stand was secured to the tree. I actually do not like being off the ground very far.
