Hello Woody et al... New to the forum. Lots of cool stuff here. I've lived in KY just below Corydon IN for 26 years, just now gained access to deer hunting on private land near Corydon. Have read many times over the years about the quality of deer hunting in Harrison forest and adjoining areas. Have also tasted venison from the area and found it excellent! Must confess I never understood the prohibition on regular HPR use in rural areas of IN. Glad to read of recent legislation to expand HPR use for deer hunting. I have a .358 Winchester rifle project underway, and plan to shorten cases to 1.8 inches just in case 1231 isn't signed by Gov. Pence. Anyway, HOWDY

By The Way, anybody know what HPR calibers qualify as ".300" in the approved version of HB 1231?

Hello I'm new to the Forum. I haven't hunted in about 10 years but I'm looking to get back into it with my wife this fall. I've been following this for him for a while specifically on the topic of high-powered rifles. This community seems very welcoming and knowledgeable and I'm glad to be here.

Glad to hear that you're getting back into this wonderful sport/hobby. HPRs will add some more fun as I like to use different weapons to help add to the memory of the harvest. Hope you enjoy the site and post often.

I've been hunting all my life and still learning. I laugh now how naive I was during my early years.

Don't I know, back in my teens when I was hunting with my father, think I was 11 or 12, I had a 10 point and 12 point walk within 15 yards of me and could only pull the recurve back half way. The arrow I shot landed at their feet and they just looked right up at me and walked off. My dad killed the 12 a few minutes later. I was greener then green back then.

Bill, your lucky to have a father take you. My father was not a hunter and I started with my older brother shooting crows, rabbits and squirrels. My neighbor paid me 50 cents for each rabbit or squirrel. There where no deer, but then my parents moved to East Enterprise Indiana when I was in college. That's when I saw deer and pick up deer hunting.
