Anybody know anyone who checkers laminated wood stocks? The stock on my laminated T/C Omega is slick as snot while wearing gloves. I hear that the laminated stocks are near impossible to checker with hand checkering tools and must be done with some type of engraving machinery due to the hardness the adhesive gives to the laminations. I noticed that all of the synthetic stocks for the Omegas have checkering on them, but it was probably too much of an expense to do on the laminated stocks.

Most checkerers will shy away from checkering a laminated stock. The lamination causes some of the checkering to chip off, even in normal use. Did you try some gloves with the rubbery grip studs/panels? I have some wool gloves with this feature that I use deer hunting with the T/C. Neoprene gloves would provide you a death grip on that slick stock.

You also might try stick on grip panels such as those that are sometimes used on handguns.

I have put the rubber grip strips on the stock and it helps out a lot. But I have this awesome design for checkering panels that incorporate the Greek letter for Omega. Sounds like I might be out of luck getting this design checkered into my Omega laminated stock.
