How many of you guys are building your own black powder rifles? Building from kits, bits and pieces or from scratch? tusti

I've got a .45 Kentucky rifle and a .50 Hawken style, both built from CVA kits. Both of them of over 20 years old, and both are excellent round ball shooters. In fact, the first deer I ever killed was with the .45.
There's a sense of satisfaction in putting something together that actually works. (I think my wafe was suprised!)
I don't see many kits today. Anyone know a good source for them?

The last one I built was a TC hawken and I just scrounged up all the parts... Its a beauty too... Shoots like a dream. Not many folks build much of anything anymore...... All are just to busy chasing $$$$$ or something....... When I was a kid, my Dad and I would sit in the garage at night and work on gun stocks and build up a gun or two...... Those were good times. Put the local ball game on and sit side by side out there just hanging out.
Right now the only thing I am doing is working on restocking a Ruger #1. I found a blank that an OLD friend started about 30 years ago. He died and I found the stock. Beautiful wood so I thought I would try to finish it before I died!.lol
