First day of the Put and Take at Winamac Fish and Wildlife Area.
From the time we got out of the truck until we got back in was 21 minutes. This included uncasing and loading the gun. I only fired one shot.
The first bird (the hen) was easy. Some hunters jumped her in the next field over and she landed about 40 yards in front of us. Whisper caught her on the ground.
We turned around walked about 50 yards and Whisper got really birdy and then did a beautiful point on a rooster. He flushed and I got to shoot him. I used # 5 Heavy loads this year. Last year I hunted with #6 Hi Brass and had a hard time knocking them down. Not a problem on the rooster.
