Youth Dove Hunt at Bluegrass
Youth hunters hoping to participate in the special Sept. 1 dove hunt at Bluegrass Fish & Wildlife Area need to book a berth now. Sign up began Aug. 10 and continues through Aug. 24. Only 75 kids will be drawn for the special youth hunt.
Participating kids don't need a Hunter's Education certificate and don't need a state hunting license. They need shotshells and gun and will hunt from 1 to 5 p.m on Sept. 1. The event starts at 11 a.m with safety lectures and demonstrations followed by lunch. Call Sugar Ridge F&W Area weekdays from 8 a.m to 4 p.m at 812-789-2724 or Ayres Sport Shop at 812-937-2438.

Hey, folks if you have child that loves to hunt. You need to hurry up and sign them up for this special hunt. We helped the state last year put this hunt on. All the kids had a great time out there at Bluegrass!!! Nothing better than seeing a kid come in with their parent or mentor with a big smile on his or her face!!! Last year was the first year for the event and we were booked up in less than a week... Just be sure to bring plenty of shells!!! Last year we counted the kids shooting about a box of shells every 2 minutes!!! Great fun for everybody!!!
